Top modern camper placeEverything can be arranged quickly and practically.Nice starting point for hiking and MTB.Close to Daun for shopping by bike if necessary.Sandwich service.Beautiful sanitary facilities.The future of the modern camper place.We will definitely come back here!

A really great place in the middle of the nature reserve, very clean and well-maintained sanitary facilities.Right next to it is the Maarbad, wonderful swimming fun for everyone.The hotel and the restaurant are also highly recommended, the cakes are gigantic.We would definitely like to come back.

Simple, quiet campsite, mostly permanent pitches. There is a green strip for tents at the lake, with a magnificent view of reed beds and the lake. Simple toilet block, but clean and tidy, with toilet paper and gel to wash your hands. Hot showers, free. There are some chairs and tables on the site that you can use. The campsite is part of Hotel Schneider, where you also have to register and where you can get something to eat and drink. A great place for us cyclists to camp for two nights.

Directly on the Schalkenmehrener Maar. Showers and toilets very well maintained and warm. Close to the campsite. The many long-term campers are very open-minded and friendly to tent campers.From here you can go jogging or skating around the lake in the morning in the fog.

Clean sanitary facilities and a great view of the maar. Contrary to the reviews you read here, there is toilet paper and soap in the toilets. We had the shepherd's wagon for 2 nights and were very excited :)

It is a simple campsite right on the Maar but without access to the lake. If you want to swim, you have to pay five euros to enter the nearby outdoor pool.Shepherd's wagons are also available for overnight stays.

Camping directly on the Maar!Very nice and well-kept campsite.Really good value for money, nice buffet breakfast with a decent selection.Toilet paper and or a small camping shop would be really cool.Very friendly staff. Gladly again

A nice place right on the Maar, we also spontaneously got a place on the tent meadow (reservation not possible). The sanitary facilities could be overhauled and a soap dispenser would be nice.There is a parking lot belonging to the site/hotel (parking at the tent is not possible due to nature conservation). The hotel staff is really nice. From there you can go on some beautiful hikes.

Unfortunately it was very expensive, but there were no towels to dry your hands, no soap, and there was even no saving on toilet paper. For a hefty price you can at least expect a good spot, but unfortunately the ground is far too hard for tent pegs, so you have to make a makeshift provision for your tent. In addition, privacy doesn't seem to play a big role, we had a 10 man tent next to us not even 1 meter away :(Unfortunately, they seem to be taking advantage of the fact that there is no competing place in the surrounding area. What a shame! The location is actually very inviting and idyllic!

It's in a nice location on the Maar, but the price is not justified as there are no basic services such as toilet paper or hand soap in the washrooms. Swimming in the maar also required more money than in a normal outdoor pool.

Very unfortunate, I called in the afternoon to see if there was room, "yes you can come, see you later!". Called a few minutes before arrival to ask where to park. We were greeted kindly and shown a place. We then arrive at the reception of the adjacent hotel/restaurant, where we are first ignored by all the staff for several minutes and then told that the campsite is full. "Yes, we don't do reservations." You drive 2.5 hours for that.

Hiker with tent:All you get here is the location and fresh water. Everything else is pretty bad.Among other things, no toilet paper, no paper towels or hand dryers, no disinfectant (only one dispenser) or soap.You are not warned in advance that you would have to get something like that. A really friendly hint when we left that we would have liked to have been told when we arrived was met with unfriendliness and "I've never been to a place where there was toilet paper." It's a shame for the receptionist, but all the other 30 places we saw had this service.Unfortunately, the Hotel Schneider is not for second-class campers.All in all, it's a real shame, with little effort and a bit of hospitality, it would really be a great place on the Eifelsteig for the two of us with a tent.P.S. If you want to do laundry, take a woman with you; the washing machines are located within the women's sanitary area.

Very nicely located place on the Maar. Nice hiking opportunities. Hillside location with terraces but everything is a bit cramped. It gives the impression that the space next to the hotel is running along with it. No special attention is paid to this. We were standing on a plastic mat that had probably been rotting for a year and was falling apart into its components. I want to sit barefoot on the grass while camping. Anyone who thinks they can simply jump into the tempting water will be whistled back by the lifeguard next door. During Corona times, a time slot could be booked in the public outdoor pool. The only place where swimming is officially permitted.
