Very nice and flexible hostel parents. The food was very good. The location is very close to nature. However, families should travel with a car as the route to the town is quite long. I found it annoying that the smoking area is right at the exit of the house. I often stood here in cigarette smoke. This is better solved in other youth hostels.

We had a room in the basement of the main house, it was very nice because we were there with a lot of families. What was also particularly nice about family leisure time was that there were a lot of terraces down there where you could sit together in the evenings. What wasn't so nice was that if you wanted to go into the lake directly on the youth hostel grounds, i.e. that you didn't swim at the official bathing spot. You cut your feet because there were too many mussels and seaweed. The rooms were a little small and it was a shame that there were only four closets for six beds. The loft beds were difficult to access, which is why older people couldn't get up there so easily. In the bathroom you saw silverfish several times when you took a shower, then the whole bathroom was under water. Among other things, in an open space between two terraces, there was a nest of ground hornets or wasps or something like that. That wasn't so nice because if you stepped on it is, it hurt a lot

In the new building it is totally fine, the room layout in the older houses is not so optimal. Unfortunately, the outdoor facilities are in need of overhaul and there is no playground.

Rooms are great, the best I've seen, except room 10 with the boys, the room is very small, only has one socket, and the beds are much smaller, the bathroom is also mini,

The location is really unique. There were two of us there (2 adults) and we felt a little out of place. In fact, this youth hostel is ideal for groups and families. The food there is some of the best I've had in youth hostels. Always a good selection and not too little either. But I do have a few things to complain about. I have the feeling that the website is a bit exaggerated. The pictures, for example, lead you to believe that there is a jetty at the lake. But there isn't, at least I haven't seen it. I was also missing information about Malente and its sights. There were only tips from the area.
