We had the holiday apartment. Nicely furnished, the beds were unfortunately a bit sagging and with the weather at the moment it was a bit damp in the apartment as some of it still has single glazed windows.The food was very tasty.The staff was super nice too!!

The location and surroundings are beautiful. It's very remote which gives you a relaxing feeling (unless you're unlucky like in my case and have to listen to the commotion of school classes). However, it is so isolated here that not even cell phone reception dares to come here. For the WiFi you have to scan a Qr code every hour in order to then surf at an internet speed that is impossible to work with.The staff is nice and the food is quite okay.The rooms are really small and carelessly furnished. There is a sink in the room, but the water tastes so much like chlorine that even brushing your teeth is disgusting. I stopped drinking the water for health reasons. There is a shared toilet in the hallway where the cubicles are so small that I hit my head on the door handle when I tried to pull up my pants. The hygiene is fine. There are also shared showers in the hallway. Apart from the fact that as soon as some people have showered before you, half the bathroom is flooded with water, the showers are in a very old condition. The shower head is not adjustable and is more reminiscent of a high-pressure cleaner as you only have a hard jet. Due to the fact that the jet is not even in the middle and you basically stand in the corner to get water, showering here is not a pleasant experience.Overall, the stay here served its purpose, but there is a lot of potential for improvement.

Unfortunately, the facility is a bit old, especially the sports facilities (football, basketball hoop), and the rooms are just as simple. The staff is friendly. The food was excellent for a youth hostel.

We were in Hellenthal with our 5th grade class and felt completely comfortable. The food tasted great and we also found the separate accommodation from us very pleasant. Our hikes took us to Reifferscheid Castle and the wildlife enclosure. These destinations are well worth seeing and we can also recommend them. The town of Hellenthal with its shopping opportunities was also a highlight for us and the disco was the crowning glory. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and competent.

I was there for a week. Small rooms, mold in the shower, cold food and on the last day we were served a salad of all the leftovers from the week. Don‘t recommend.

Was there on a school trip in the 5th grade. The youth hostel is very quiet and idyllic in the middle of the landscape. At the same time, this also means that you are not exactly mobile and without a car you have little or no opportunity to go on excursions or tours. So during our stay we didn't see or get to know anything apart from the small town that has little to offer and the forest next to the youth hostel. The rooms are very small and give a feeling of confinement and dreariness. In addition, the rooms are carelessly furnished and the showers are in poor condition. What should be highlighted positively is the food, which in my opinion can be described as definitely above average compared to other youth hostels. Overall, the youth hostel unfortunately didn't convince me

The location of the youth hostel is extremely beautiful. However, the condition of the building is substandard. Mold in the showers, a horrible smell from the toilets that extends into the bedrooms. The rooms are very carelessly and outdated. A big negative point is that there is no cell phone reception or WiFi. So we couldn't look up routes or bus connections for the next day. The breakfast was OK. For the price (€40 for a bed in a shared room with breakfast) an absolute disgrace. Would have been worth a maximum of €15 to us. The day before we stayed in the ultra-modern, clean youth hostel in Gemünd for the same price. We won't be coming back!

Hello, we spent a week here this autumn holidays, arriving by car was no problem, public transport, as is usually the case, is only for advanced users. Location of the youth hostel is very nice. The five of us had the holiday home, rustic but well equipped, breakfast was good, we could have skipped dinner. We don't have a designated room to eat in. At no time during a meal was we always referred to a room only when we asked, that could be better. The breakfast rolls were fresh from the bakery and good. When I asked whether there was o-juice or a-juice, as it was always available for breakfast, there was a rather outrageous suggestion that there was fruit, i.e. juice in solid form. My request to the service team is to clearly define the rooms for eating or, as in most hostels, to set up a permanent large dining room, a tip for the next modernization. One consolation about the food, after the complaint, was that we didn't have to pay the full price of the meal. Note the stars refer to the holiday home, we didn't see the rooms in the youth hostel.

When we arrived we were greeted with disgusting gases. The furnishings are not up to date and a lot of things are broken.There is a lot of mold on the walls and you couldn't shower for long in the shower because otherwise the mold would come off. The food was okay compared to the facility but nothing specialThe location of the hostel is rather bad, the internet connection is slow and spotty and all the people were sick

The Hellenthal youth hostel offers a great range of food that stands out from other youth hostels. The quality of the food is really remarkable and surprised us positively.However, we have to note that the connection to the youth hostel is not that optimal. It might be easier to get to various sights or activities from here.Overall, we had a pleasant time at the Hellenthal Youth Hostel, especially thanks to the delicious food. It would be great if the connectivity could be improved to make the stay even more comfortable.

Our stay at the DJH Youth Hostel Hellenthal was absolutely first-class and exceeded our expectations. This youth hostel not only offers an impressive location, but also excellent service and facilities.The hostel is surrounded by stunning natural surroundings, perfect for outdoor activities. The landscape is picturesque and ideal for hiking, cycling and exploring. The view of the surrounding forests and hills is simply enchanting.The facilities in the youth hostel are modern, clean and comfortable. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped, ensuring a comfortable stay. The common areas are comfortably designed and offer a friendly atmosphere.The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. They were always available to answer questions and provide support. The hospitality of the staff definitely made us feel welcome and looked after.The meals in the youth hostel were varied and delicious. The breakfast buffet offered a wide selection of options to start the day refreshed. The opportunity to sample regional specialties was a great addition to our stay.Overall, our stay at the DJH Youth Hostel Hellenthal was absolutely fantastic. The combination of great location, excellent service and comfortable facilities made our experience unforgettable. We recommend this youth hostel to all travelers who are looking for a natural environment and first-class accommodation.

I went here for a school trip. Its a good location and I think that the activites are good. But the rooms were quite small and the showers (communal) were lukewarm. I enjoyed my visit but some things could be outdated. Thw food is lecker!

We had a school trip there and I personally wouldn't want to go there again. Shared showers were really not good, the shower head was like a high pressure cleaner or you could call it a faucet rather than a shower head. Room was very small for 5 people but still reasonable. Unfortunately, the windows were so old and fragile that when there was too much wind they simply opened on their own even though they were previously closed.Location is really not good unless the only goal is to go into the forest and do nothing. Internet was only available for 1 hour per day and that wasn't particularly good either. Students with iPhones couldn't access the WiFi at all. Almost everything is outdated, but relatively clean. The staff was nice and the food was quite ok, except for vegans who simply had salad as their main course and had very little choice/offer.I wouldn't go there again.Overall 3.5/10
