To the hotel:The room was huge and clean, but a bit old.Breakfast on Sunday was good, unfortunately there were no croissants on Saturday. We ate a la carte once, the game dishes were very good.On the second evening we ordered “the Taste” 4 courses on spoons. The menu was really good. Unfortunately, the promotion was underestimated on the holiday weekend, which meant we waited forever for the first and second courses.Sauna + fitness: at least on the weekend too small for the number of hotel guests. As a result, the sauna towels were out.Rain shower was broken. We would describe the area as functional. We came across the hotel through an Invent Travel Box. We definitely cannot recommend the provider, at least for the area around Cologne.Hardly any hotels in the area, so they can only be booked during the week or only last minute. As a result, the box would soon expire. We were lucky that this hotel was possible then. Otherwise we wouldn't have traveled to the area at this time of year.We weren't the only ones who were in the hotel with such a gift. Similar problems were reported there.

I chose the Straelener Hof because of the very good reviews, but I was a bit unlucky with my room (I can't explain it any other way). My room was very old fashioned, but also very clean. The bathroom in particular was more 1960s. That's not a problem in principle, but my room was also very noisy! I had noise all evening that was already annoying! However, the room was very spacious. To get to the room, however, I had to cross the restaurant. Probably not a satisfactory solution for me or for the restaurant guests! The highly praised breakfast was also rather average for me! There were only “still”(?) Kaiser rolls. The rest of the selection was otherwise rather manageable. What should be highlighted, however, is the staff! That was really very friendly and accommodating. Like I said, maybe I just had a bad day!
