Very nice service with a heart for tired hikers. Even though it was closed, a delicious snack was prepared for us. We'd love to come back

A good inn still in the old style, very nice service, and the food is simply good 👍🏻. Nice portions and reasonable prices, I can only recommend it.

I have been coming to this house again and again for over 25 years. The Zimmerer family always strives for our satisfaction. And Ms. Zimmerer senior has a special charm. In the kitchen, Johanna Zimmerer always has new ideas for the daily menu.Always happy again!

Due to a celebration, we reserved a double room for 2 days in advance because the price on the website was "cheap".We also thought after reading the reviews that it wouldn't be a problem for 2 days if you stayed in a slightly "older" hotel. There appears to be an "old building" in the inn building and a "newer" extension. We were accommodated in the former. The kitchen is not included in the rating because we didn't eat anything there other than breakfast.I summarize:- old and no longer up to date in any way- the whole building smells musty and old- the lady who did the "check-in" didn't feel like she was really hospitable, and as a guest I felt more of a nuisance- you only get information on request- the building is locked at 10 p.m. (if I hadn't happened to read this in a review, we would have been standing in front of a locked door)- The front door key was only handed out upon request- the inner courtyard (parking lot) will also be closed- The carpet in the room was torn in several places, so another carpet was simply put on top of it- Balcony would have to be blocked according to my rating (large holes in the wooden boards and nails sticking out)- WiFi didn't work- Brochure regarding offers from the region in the room was from 2018 and was written all over the inside pages- Tiles in the bathroom were broken- the “breakfast buffet” was ok but nothing specialWe thought the price of €34 stated on the internet was the price per room (that was the fundamental mistake of believing that). But then they charged €36 per person per day.Plus the tourist tax of €2 per day per person. We then pointed out the price online. (Unfortunately the website was and is no longer accessible.)The price that was on the Internet was QUOTE "raised" and the website was "deactivated".So we paid €152.I only discovered at home that according to the 1st amendment to the spa tax statutes from July 22nd, 2019 and after information from the municipality, the spa tax is actually only €1.50 per day.The reason why 2€ was charged here was explained after an inquiry as an oversight, as it was "OF THE OPINION" that the tourist tax would be 2€ per day. There was a return transfer here. However, according to my rating, there is no relation to price/performance.Finally, I would like to say that we did not feel comfortable there in any way.We will no longer be staying at this inn and I can only advise anyone who stays there to check the bill carefully.

When you arrive at the guesthouse you will often be greeted gruffly by the housekeeper. (This has nothing to do with the region! As a rule, the people here are more than friendly!) The rooms are from the 60s, with everything that time has to offer. Including plastic fittings in the shower and plastic toilet lid that bends just by looking at it.Cleanliness is present (you shouldn't look more closely), but this is ruined by the balcony on the rooms in the main building, which is in need of renovation. (garbage-filled courtyard included) If you can live with holes in the bed sheets and the good old bed linen from grandma's times (with not all the buttons on the pillow and duvet anymore), this is the place for you. Including the justification for where you want to go out in the evening and why you don't want to return until after 9 p.m. (explanation for wanting late access to the guesthouse if you stay for two days and want access to the room after 9 p.m. one evening). The prices would be okay if you hadn't booked in February via telephone and "employee's private email address". Assuming (confirmed by phone) that the single room would cost around €30, as it was described on the website. But this was negated in September with the words “we have shut down the website” and the single room ended up costing over €40 per night with breakfast plus tourist tax.Conclusion...if you want to spend the night in the Bavarian Forest cheaply like at "Grandma's" in the 60s with all the "explanations", this is the right place for you. The supposed pricing/variation is debatable. You can find better accommodation in the area with a price-performance ratio.Personal conclusion: What a shame for Falkenstein! So much more could be done with it.

The rooms are furnished in a typical 70s style. It's enough to stay overnight. The rooms are clean. Yes, the landlady could be friendlier, but that is also due to the mentality in this region. I will gladly come again. The food is delicious and all in all not overpriced. However, contacting us by telephone is very difficult...
