Very nice campsite. The playground is really great and the bathing bay is very nice and well maintained. In my opinion the price was also very fair. The lady at the reception was also very nice and helpful. We'd love to come back.

Unfortunately there is little program! A nice playground for families and children but nothing more. Nice location but you have to rely on the car. House was very spartan with no special amenities.

Very very quiet campsite! The employees are extremely friendly. If you want to enjoy nature, this is the right place for you. The sanitary facilities are clean, but in need of renovation, but that's not because of the new operators, but because of the bureaucracy! I can only recommend the campsite!!!!

The Portenschmiede campsite used to be one of the most beautiful campsites on the Hohenwarte reservoir. It has since been “modernized” and restructured. Only moderately successful. There are construction sites everywhere... things are being started everywhere and little is being completed. Too bad. On top of that, it’s also expensive. Not even parking for a short visit is free...

We wanted to use the beach. There was a smell of feces all around the beach. We left straight away. We would still have to pay the 5 euros for the exit. The machine does not accept cash and you have to laboriously enter the license plate number.

The campsite has massive organizational problems. Especially with spontaneous arrivals. We wanted to stay for one night and duly paid the fees. Right from the start I was surprised at the lack of a detailed cost breakdown. The next day we were not allowed out and had to pay an additional €15 for the night. Since we no longer had any cash with us, the fine absurdly increased to €28, even though it says “card payment only” EVERYWHERE. After I disagreed with this, I was treated very unkindly and made to look like a fool because I can't read signs. Apparently there should be signs everywhere where I can find a list of fees with all the information I need. When trying to show me these signs, the receptionist failed miserably. In my experience, this company allows spontaneous guests to drive onto the site without brakes and with inadequate information and tries to charge them additional costs when they leave. In principle, according to §312e BGB, costs can only be charged if the consumer has been informed about them. This is definitely not the case locally. It is very easy for me to accuse the company of a certain amount of intentionality in this regard.

Nice campsite with room for improvement. The location is great, beautifully secluded and right on the water, very idyllic in itself. There is a small restaurant on site and there are vending machines for coffee, drinks and fresh grilled food at the entrance area.During our visit, however, the (permanent) campers adjacent to the campsite were quite loud, especially in the evening/night.Nobody pays attention to a good night's sleep here, especially on weekends. In the middle of the night, cars still drive out of the square and loud music plays until midnight. You should think twice (especially with children). There is also definitely a need for improvement in the showers in sanitary building 2!There are 2 showers here, which are opposite each other without a partition and are only separated from the sinks by a shower curtain. The water is turned on while you shower using a sensor. For me this sometimes didn't work at all or only after I held my hand directly to it for 15 seconds at a time. Really annoying and time-consuming when you have to fight with the sensor every few seconds. At €1 per 5 minutes, it's not exactly the cheapest. However, I found the mold on the tiles almost even worse 🤢Plus hundreds of little flies on the ceiling. Apparently the ventilation no longer works here. A no go for me. However, the toilets and sinks were always extremely clean.

A dream in terms of landscape but the new tenants are changing everything and making it more expensive. As a long-term camper, you now feel like a milk cow. …

We went to the advertised event “Stausee in Flames” on July 27th, 2024. We cannot comment on the campsite. The campers certainly feel comfortable there, but for the visitors to the aforementioned event in constant rain - which no one can do anything about - the organizer had completely failed. No planning for bad weather, no seating whatsoever. With necessity, two smaller party tents were set up - for a few ??? Visitors - as they say! When one of the three people asked about party benches, they simply said NO! Then the three employees with their VIP card on their wrist withdrew back to the VIP LOUNGE, which was guarded by four security people, so as not to be exposed to any further questions. So at least they were left dry. Even the excessive volume of the DJ speakers couldn't change the lack of planning. You could eat with an umbrella in one hand and a paper plate in the other... difficult or, better yet, not at all. You can't have more negative advertising! We know of other events of a similar nature, great and professionally organized, but that was nothing. We headed home disappointed at 10 p.m. - without fireworks! Never again!
