Hotel Hoffmanns Weinquartier Bernkastel-Kues

Today, while looking for a good restaurant, we came across Hoffmanns Weinstube Hotel and Restaurant. The reviews on Google were promising and the photos of the food looked great. Since there were no opening times listed on the restaurant's homepage, I called them to inquire as a precaution. I was told on the phone that the outdoor area was not available due to the high heat, but the indoor area was open from 6 p.m. I asked if a reservation for two people is required. "No, but if there is not enough going on, then we close for the day - we also have to pay attention to the economic viability," was the answer. To be on the safe side, I asked if that meant we should arrive around 6 p.m. at best: "Yeah, right." ...Up until then everything was completely fine and understandable.We arrived at the restaurant around 6:15 p.m. An older gentleman was already waiting there and pulled on the front door. But this was locked. So the gentleman knocked on the door. An employee of the restaurant/hotel opened the door. Since the employee did not introduce himself, for the sake of simplicity I will call him the bouncer - he has fulfilled this function most closely. The bouncer made it clear to the waiting gentleman: “Today only private parties!”. The guest, puzzled, asked what "closed company" meant in a restaurant - whether there was a wedding celebration or something similar. This seemed to overwhelm the bouncer. He pressed around for a while and then simply explained: “Today only for regular guests!”. After not being regulars we left again.All in all, I find the experience unfortunate. We would have liked to try the restaurant. We probably won't come by a second time, if there is always a certain chance that it will only be open for "regulars" that day - whether that was what was meant when I was told that they also had to pay attention to the economy, I can not judge.

We came across this wonderful restaurant by chance yesterday.We were thrilled with the first-class 3-course menu with perfect wine accompaniment.

We came in, I had called for a reservation and the owner almost attacked me and said I didn’t call and basically accused me of lying.We were flabbergasted.We don’t know anything about the food but this was the rudest behavior we have encountered in years.Incredibly rude.

Small but nice restaurant with a small menu but something for every taste. A current daily menu is also offered. We were lucky enough to get veal boiled beef that was very, very tasty. A thank you to the very good cook. The portions are also generous and you can also share the dessert. A good selection of wines at moderate prices. The owner serves and is very attentive. We would be happy to come back on our next visit to the Moselle.

Very, very good food, fresh ingredients prepared with love, you can tell that the cook knows her craft. Upscale dishes combined with traditional side dishes are very tasteful. The meat was on point, perfect. Instead of the usual bread with herb butter, there was bread with homemade egg salad, a good and tasty alternative. The dessert was the crowning glory and also very tasty. The best food around here. Not to forget the friendly and helpful service (directions). We will remember this evening fondly. Thank you very much for a lovely, fun evening with very tasty food.
