Nice place, not fancy and yes the decor was stuck in the 80s (70s?), but the hostess was very friendly, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable, the breakfast was plentiful and varied, and the price was right. We stayed here for the Bernkastel-Kues weinfest 2018, and it was a bit of a hike to BK, almost 3 miles. But it was a nice footpath along the river, so no regrets. And taxis were available to get us home after way too many Rieslings!

Couldn't check in at advertised times (3 to 6pm) as door and telephone not answered. Building covered in scaffold and netting (June 2015), No off road parking as car park covered with scaffold. …

Terrible experience of a room, where bead clothes were not cotton but some strange material. The room was equipped like DDR style and the cherry on cake was heater that made every half an hour noice like small helicopter. Breakfast was a joke. AVOID !

On our way back from holiday in Italy we booked here for 2 nights via Booking.com.Nice to enjoy this beautiful environment for a while before we go back to work.According to the route planner we would arrive here at 4.20 pm.Unfortunately, we drove from one traffic jam to the next in Germany and at 12 noon we sent the hotel a message that we cannot book before 6 p.m.The hotel responded that we are no longer welcome after 6 p.m.I only read that message at 5.15 pm and sent a message saying that if the reception is closed we could perhaps collect the key somewhere else?Because we did not receive a message back immediately, I called the hotel and got a very unfriendly man on the line. Who told me that I was not allowed to come after 6 p.m.And in the Booking.Com app we saw that the hotel had already canceled our booking at 6:03 PM.We then drove on home.We complained to Booking.Com, but I was told that they do not interfere with the hotel's policy. We have now paid for 2 nights and received nothing in return.

The hotel is in a quiet location and offers its own parking spaces. The interior decoration was adequate. TV, a balcony and a bathroom with shower were available. Unfortunately the water pressure was a bit weak but still OK.The hospitality was very friendly and helpful and offered a generous breakfast. You can walk directly to the Moselle in just under 200 meters.

Ms. Müller is a warm-hearted woman who gave you the feeling that she was having fun with her work. We had a clean room with a TV and a double bed. I felt a little like I did in my youth, which I found nice because I had a great childhood. All in all we felt comfortable..... 👍 Kind regards from GüterslohP.S. Breakfast was great too

The lady of the hotel is very friendly. The rooms are very spacious. A bit dated, 80s style. But everything is neat and nothing broken. The beds were very good, with a nice duvet. on top. …

Greetings from the kitchen!!!???It's been a while now. But it always annoys me when I think about it.It was the days of the open wine cellars in Wehlen. In May 2014I was out with friends who were visiting me.I was looking for a parking space and by chance drove past the Hotel Sonnenlay. One of my friends said: I have stayed in this hotel a few times. I know the people well. They certainly won't mind if we stand in one of their parking spaces opposite the old building. We can stop by at your place in the next few days.Said and done. So I didn't ask for permission. When we returned after about 1.5 hours, it was a big surprise. There was a note stuck to the side window with a lot of grease on it.It said: It's easier for those who can readWe were all horrified. My friend just said. You know what . If anyone behaves like that, I will never spend the night with them again. And we won't go out to eat with them either.Hui at the front and yuck at the back. This will take revenge. Especially since the others will notice it anyway. As you can see. Man should always be friendly to people. Not just when you stand in front of one and pay.Greetings back to the kitchen.Hans Steinmann
