Special location, sleeping in a castle. Beautiful surroundings, with a nice outdoor forest pool in Neckergemund. Very warm welcome at reception, room was simple but very clean. We had a family room with private bathroom. For us it was a nice overnight stay on a 2-day motorway from the Netherlands to Italy with our two children aged 6 and 8. There is plenty to do in the area to stay longer. Breakfast is fine and basic with fresh rolls, like any German youth hostel.

The youth hostel is beautifully located and has been nicely renovated.Unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. The staff seems overwhelmed and is unfriendly. The second common room was not unlocked despite the Juhe being fully occupied. Even though the first room was already full. There was no explanation, so the children had to play in the stairwell and the adults had no opportunity to gather anywhere. At breakfast there was a lack of sufficient coffee, rolls and toppings. The games cupboard was locked on the second evening so we could no longer play. It's a shame, because the youth hostel has potential and is one of the higher-priced hotels in the DJH - you can expect a minimum level of service and friendliness.

Unfortunately a failure. A great location in itself, 18 minutes by car from Heidelberg, quietly nestled on a mountain in the old castle gate with a wonderful view. What was particularly noteworthy was the commitment and friendliness of the lady at reception. Top! That was it already. There was a group of adults on site who filled the entire hostel with sound from the inner courtyard until late into the night. The toilets are in the hallway. Showers on the ground floor. The rooms are absolutely no longer up to date, the entire hostel is very winding. The children are bored out of their minds here and you can forget about eating out here. An overpriced restaurant and that's it. Pure residential area. The playground at the end of the parking lot is a bit desolate and the only place for the children to go. If there is a performance at the castle, you are allowed to carry your luggage on foot from the parking lot to the hostel as the passage is closed. All in all, unfortunately not recommended for families. Certainly great for a drinking and party-loving audience. When I consider that I now pay as much here as I would for a hotel... No thanks.

Little JuHe in medieval Dilsberg. View is great. Room okay. Few options for kids. Games can be borrowed. What was really a disaster was the food. Little choice. No Schlecki children's option. Something was always going on. Overwhelmed staff in stress then unfriendly. Lunch packages were poor, not prepared and you had to wait forever until the mini rolls were baked and the sausage and cheese plates were filled.Bottom line: it doesn't have to happen again.

Very small, with the maximum possible number of rooms squeezed into a tight space. Rooms 212, 213 approx. 6m² 4 beds with sloping ceilings, a window 30x30cm, an oven in summer. Only 1 shower per floor. Friendly hostel manager, kitchen ok. But what the DJH Association offers its guests in terms of rooms is sometimes a disgrace and probably not legal either.

Toilets and showers in the hallway, unfortunately these were not cleaned regularly. At breakfast you often had to wait a long time or ask if something was empty (coffee, rolls, plates...).Staff friendly, if not particularly stressed.Otherwise happy with everything.

The youth hostel is beautifully located on the hill with a great view. The staff is friendly and helpful. In my opinion, the rooms (we stayed in a 4-bed room in the attic) are no longer up to date: clearly too small, only a washbasin - no shower, hardly any storage space, small windows that hardly ventilate the room.

I went to this youth hostel (class trip).I was in a room with 2 boys and we had our own bathroom (toilet, shower, sink). I thought that was great, 😁The food was good.I would say a small negative point is that the windows could be a little bigger because it was hot where we were and we couldn't sleep well otherwise the youth hostel is good.Thank you 👍
