Stopped over here with 2 other adults and a child when driving up to Denmark. ||||Lovely hotel on the outskirts of Schleswig. Beautiful gardens with carp/goldfish in the ponds. Beer garden busy and hotel bar sells tasty local beers. …

Ruhekrug lies off the main roads and combines parts from different times - the new wing perhaps from 1970´s? The rooms are rustic and offer the basic amenities. The restaurant is an ok traditional German restaurant with a nice view to the pond in the backyard. Breakfast surprised us positively. Moderate prices, ok quality ratio.

Our room had two single beds instead of the promised double bed, the beef steak was barely chewable and the wifi connection was unusable. Don't forget to bring your own shower gel and toothbrush as you won't find that in the bathroom! They do have a lovely garden and terrace though and the staff was very friendly and fast.

Wow... What to say... Good thing first. Lovely peaceful location, wonderful old building with a lot of charm and relaxing area in the back. This had the potential to be a winner guest house. It was, however, not run by people that are willing to keep up with the world. Checkin, they told us "you have two single rooms for two nights?" when we had booked a double room for two nights. They fixed that, so all right, but to have a booking overview on a large piece of paper (when we booked online, why not use a computer?) gave room for mistakes.11am the next morning, knocking on our door, angry woman outside. "YOU SHOULD BE OUT BY 11!!!"... "we have two nights..." I said... "oh.." she said and smiled, walking away. Again, this should simply not happen."Leave towels you want replaced on floor" it said, so we left a towel, when we came back in the evening, it was still there, no one had tended to our room. The shower was literarily falling apart. Water going everywhere out of the shower head, shower doors were old, clunky, did not close, one part even fell off.Parking was both nights packed full of people having some conference or whatever, so despite being in a very "by itself" area, there were not anywhere near enough parking.Internet was so slow it was virtually useless, and only available in the lobby. We have enough data on our cellphones, but as reception was very bad here, we really could have used better internet. The food itself was mostly ok, though far from excellent. Caffe Latte should not have chocolate sirup in it, but this did. Breakfast was ok-ish but lacking. The raisin bread was so stale I could not think of eating it. Eggs were overcooked.I am sad to write this. The hotel could have been amazing with some proper management. It will die without it.
