Lovely small hotel, modern and newly renovated (2023) rooms. I stayed here late September 2024 in the Anton suite. It’s a very large room, seperate living area and bedroom, huge modern bathroom. Very charming original details. The breakfast in the Bavarian style restaurant was great. Friendly welcome and service. What a great place. Would definitely recommend!

Very nice hotel. Each room has a different name and we stayed in “Anton Suite” and it was very spacious. Everything in our room looked recently replaced/refurbished.Our room was up two flights of stairs (not an issue for us) but I do not believe there is an elevator. Breakfast was nice and has a very large dining area. Looking at the reviews it appears this might sometimes act as a small restaurant but perhaps that is for certain events or days since it only seemed to provide hotel guests breakfast from what I could see. The lady working the inn seems to do it all but she is not on site 24/7 so there is not a staffed reception desk all the time. She's very nice and was helpful to suggest places for us to check out. From running to office, tidying up rooms, cooking, and landscaping, she does it all.The next door church bell rings hourly (even through the night) and constantly on Sunday morning presumably for their service. This wasn't a concern to us and the double windows in our room helped mitigate some of the noise but I found it quite charming.Parking was free and we parked in the lot out front with about 10 spaces both times. I couldn't read the German signs to tell if it said the parking was for this hotel or NOT for this hotel. Either way, we didn't have a problem. Bäd Tolz is a very charming town and late September seemed to be a perfect time and we lucked out with great weather too.We did have an issue with Booking.com regarding an error on their side (we booked for two people and have a screenshot of the booking page) but the email confirmation says 1 person. Booking.com and the hotel confirmed the correct prices for 1 adult vs. 2 (seems we paid the intended price for 1 adult - but booking.com incorrectly listed it as 2) Booking.com refused to adjust the price and the hotel reasonably charged us the higher price upon arrival as expected and communicated in advance (an extra 200.80 EUR). The price we paid for what we got seemed appropriate so I don't feel cheated, but it was sort of a frustrating experience for the 1 month leading up to our arrival where I felt entitled (in principal) to pay the price I had evidence of. Again, I think Booking.com is at fault, so I am not holding this against the hotel and detracting stars from my review.

I had the suckling pig and according to the price it shouldn't have been a small portion. However I got a really mediocre portion that left me still hungry. Portion was never a problem in Bavaria. The last drop in the bucket was when another table got the same order but double portion (2 knoeddles instead of 1, 3 slices of meat instead of 1.5) Quality of food is also pretty poor, salad quality is same as a prepacked gas station salad. Avoid, there are much better places around. I was baited here because this was the only restaurant mentioned in the Lonely Planet guide.

Rustic Bavarian Gasthof close to the centre of Bad Tolz. Warm, welcoming and simple. Friendly staff, unexpected superb dinner, thirst quenching beer, peaceful night's sleep, great value.  …

Rooms very luxurious with a good style. The inn with a lot of tradition and recommended food. The Gasthof Zantl is also very familiar with friendly staff. In addition to all the positive impressions, the perfect location is an additional treat. Very centrally located in the city with a 5 minute walk to the Isar through Markstrasse. So all in all a very recommendable hotel/tavern.

The food is underground. The waiter, who is too young, is overwhelmed by the smallest questions. Food doesn't come at the same time. The food is more like a ready meal out of a can. Complaints are ignored and no feedback from the kitchen. We often visit friends here, but we will never go there again. Never again such an insult to Bavarian cuisine!

The inn is located on the edge of the center of Bad Tölz. Parking spaces are available in front of the restaurant. There is an outdoor area in front and behind the restaurant. The interior itself is nice and bright, with a rustic character. The food is ok and reasonably priced, plates were warmed up. Unfortunately, the dishes were served separately at the table, which was not okay. The service is nice, but was simply overwhelmed. When we asked what kind of appetizer we could choose from, we were offered a schnapps. When we asked what wine we could recommend, we should look at the menu. Of two open white wines, one was not available at all. But what's not possible is that the door to the interior often gets up and gets pulled out of place. This is not conducive to comfort and certainly not to sales. Overall, in terms of food, the price-performance ratio is ok, the rest is in need of improvement and is also a criterion for the rating that should not be neglected. But maybe it just wasn't the right day for dinner, who knows?

Went there for dinner with 18 people and had a long-term reservation. The only guests besides another group of about 10 people. The waitresses are very, very young but nice and hard-working and then also busy in the kitchen (?). We didn't see anyone "18" all evening. Mistress or shift manager not found. This could perhaps be expected with a group reservation. Just say “Greetings” and see if everything fits, which is actually part of a house like this. Here too, the unpleasant “new concept” of the first-name culture. The grill plate was extremely shabby, more like a leftover plate, the pieces of meat were quite oversalted, mini small and clearly cut in half (1 makes 2 or 3 portions). A schnitzel (more like a nugget) doesn't belong on a grill plate either. The largest piece of meat was the "exploded" wiener. We had to wait over 1.5 hours for the food and then the plates came in stages, so that some were finished long before the others got their food. With only 9 main courses to choose from, all based on minimal gastronomic effort, you could expect a somewhat quicker service. There isn't even vanilla sauce with the apple strudel (just ice cream). At least in the restaurant there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Our anticipation and joy after the reopening were great when we returned to the beautiful Gasthof Zantl after a long time. Even if the grill plate was an unappealing and tasty relic from the 80s, the rest of the dishes we ordered were really very good. Unfortunately the service is absolutely unacceptable. It was certainly due to our position on the sidelines on the rather outdated, rear terrace that we had to wait over 30 minutes for a stale shandy. By the way, a sour shandy is not made with tap water. Apart from the fact that 8 seats were reserved and set for 4, the missing cutlery was carelessly placed on the table for self-service. We were only able to place the food order when we asked after more than an hour....there still needs some improvement due to the completely overwhelmed and simply incorrectly staffed staff. It's a shame for the revival of this actually very beautiful place.
