Wow, how does one start... I wish I would have looked at the already negative reviews of this hotel - as they are completely justified. This establishment does not deserve five stars. Food is a 6 course pre-made menu for hundreds of people, while telling you that all the food coming out of their kitchen is overseen by their 2 star michelin chef. If that is true, then I would like to as chef Martin Herrmann to return his two stars. The food was horrible, the staff was some poor souls from India or Sri Lanka trying their best, all the while with their shirt partially hanging out of their trousers, or their fly being partially open while serving... It was clear they were tyring, but by no means was their solid etiquette and training as one would expect in a five start establishment. We booked a junior suite only to receive a very old (as that can be OK) tiny little room just over an employee entrance where their staff was smoking repeatedly and deliveries were being made early morning... Absolutely NOT OK.Then for breakfast you can go get your own coffee at the machine, wait in line for 20+ minutes for an egg, look at old crusted cheese and mustard, and stale carrots and almost mouldy cucumbers for their juicer... All the while thinking to yourself how you got duped into paying EU600 for something that is worth a third (if anything at all)...Oh, and they did refund us the money for the horrible dinner, but then realized that they also comped us the parking garage EU22 or something similar, only to tell us that they would have to charge us that amount again since they would not comp parking... Horrible customer service and all around experience. It is clear this hotel aims for top tier prices without having much interest in backing it with quality. I've stayed in many five star hotels and this has been BY FAR my worst experience EVER.Do yourself a favor and skip Hotel Dollenberg - you'll be glad you did.UPDATE/ANSER TO RESPONSE:Just to be clear, we did not expect a two star meal, but simply let the establishment know that the way they present their 'offer' is misleading and confusing...Regarding the gluten free discussion, we let the staff know when we booked, called to make sure, and when we checked in. But hey, even after three notices it seems it was still a hassle for the Dollenberger's....Regarding the junior suite, we did not expect a grand room, it would have been fine to have a small and somewhat antiquated room, it was what we expected. But a room right over the employee/delivery entrance where people stand and smoke for many hours a day/night, and the smoke entering our room to the point that you can't open a window, is not OK. That was our complaint, but again not something to be bothered with by the Dollenberg's.This is just a classic case of a once great hotel that has not moved with the times... and to make things worse, the ownership does not feel they have to, even in the smallest, take responsability and be open to a guest remarks. Well, if you rest on your laurels too long, time will not be your friend - and this clearly shows.

Once again I had a wonderful holiday in Dollenberg. Everything is as it should be in a 5 star. The entire staff, including the Schmiederer/Mr. Herrmann family, fulfills your every wish. If you can't find anything at the breakfast buffet or at Mrs. Bächle's, you're only living on air :-)The room fairy (f/m/d) prepares everything every day as if you had just arrived again. In the evening you even get the bed turned down (how cool is that) including a chocolate ball :-). An all-round pampering program.I have suggestions for improvements to the wellness area and especially the sauna area. Too few coat hooks! Posting a sauna rule... Shower beforehand (without clothes unless it is a textile sauna). Shoes are not allowed in the sauna either, only in the steam bath (due to the risk of slipping). Everyone has to sit on a towel:-(. and last but not least, in the brine bath Also after 2 p.m. someone should ensure peace and quiet and point out to children playing with a ball that this is not desired. Unfortunately, I came across all of these lists on my vacation. However, I will come again next year because I hope that this was just an exception.

We celebrated our church wedding at the Hotel Dollenberg in the Hall of Mirrors with a total of 105 guests and were absolutely thrilled. From the champagne reception, to the menu, the service and the following party, everything was exactly as we wanted it. We were able to really enjoy this day completely! We'll be back!
