Hotel Am Schloss Aurich - Schlossresidenz

We spent two nights in the Schlosshotel residence in Aurich. A modern, yet classic, spacious architectural style - certainly makes an impression. The location is nice, right at the entrance to the city center, very green, close to the castle.When we entered the foyer, we were hit by an intrusive bathroom smell, not from cleaning, but from a scent diffuser, rather unpleasant and unnecessary.The 31 sqm room was modernly furnished, had a pleasant air conditioning despite the summer heat and was quite inviting.Anyone who likes it will be impressed by the variety of smart controls including a tablet for “everything”. We found it a bit annoying to have to read the instructions for everything first. You can also listen to the radio and a variety of music via the tablet, but only in tablet quality. Somehow it doesn't fit. Then why not at least smart speakers in the room and bathroom? That would be stylish...The bathroom is also very spacious, tastefully and modernly furnished. As is often the case in hotels, there were only two hooks - for the towels on the sink. Why - you ask yourself. There is another small radio in the wall in the bathroom, the sound is modest.We also booked the room based on the information “balcony view”. Unfortunately, as we now know, this is confusing marketing. It's annoying if you don't understand this formulation straight away. Because it means that the room has a mini balcony (1 sqm?) where 2 people can stand and lean on the railing. The view was essentially the AOK parking lot and part of the hotel parking lot including the underground car park entrance. On Saturday morning around 7:30 a bus was chugging along for a long time so that its air conditioning could cool down for the guests... Unpleasant. Window closed again.The breakfast and the selection is good - without any outstanding special features. The staff is very friendly and lively, but they can't really cope with the rush on Sundays around 9 a.m. Somehow not really comfortable. Probably more pleasant during the week. Because the ambience and the furniture are very tasteful. We did not use any other hotel services. The farewell when paying was rather "Frisian-tart", no "We hope you had a nice stay", no "Have a nice trip"... Maybe it was just Sunday stress, even though we were the only ones at reception at that moment have been.Based on other experiences in similar price range, e.g. B. recently in the "Parkhotel" in Jever, there is still room for improvement in the "Residenz am Schloss" despite all its modernity and smartness.

Great new hotel! Super nice staff! A small point for improvement would be to point out that you can only find a reception in the “old” building! A small sign would be enough

The hotel is located in the middle of the city on the edge of the pedestrian zone. The building was only completed in 2021, so everything is still in top condition. You can access the buildings, the elevator and the rooms with a card that you receive when you check in.There is an underground car park and a parking space for larger vehicles, such as vans. You can have breakfast and dinner opposite in the main building, i.e. Hotel Am Schloß Aurich, where check-in also takes place. Nice and friendly welcome.

We celebrated our wedding at the Hotel am Schloss and are more than thrilled! We were looked after very courteously in advance in many respects, and on the wedding day itself the already wonderful hall was beautifully decorated. And we were able to enjoy our wedding like a dream throughout the evening because we didn't have to worry about anything. The food was delicious, the service was perfect! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, no one ever had an empty glass or an empty plate in front of them for too long, and yet they always remained discreetly in the background. We would recommend a wedding at the Hotel am Schloss to every couple – it couldn’t have been better!

You feel very comfortable from the first to the last minute. Absolutely friendly staff, excellent service, very good value for money.

Excellent and well-kept hotel with upscale amenities in the spacious rooms (air conditioning, capsule machine, motion detector on the bed and in the bathroom at floor level, rain shower, large flat-screen TV).Great, rich breakfast buffet... fried eggs, scrambled eggs and omelets are freshly prepared upon request.The fact that breakfast is not served in the residence, but in the neighboring hotel at the castle - is that a problem? No, not a long walk, just crossing the street 😊.Attention: Parking spaces are in short supply - either park in the underground car park behind the residence for a fee, or drive patiently around the block until you find a parking space...TOP recommendation for a stay in the heart of East Frisia!

Rooms in the hotel are technically state-of-the-art.Unfortunately, with half board there were some differences between the menu and the kitchen at dinner. Out of 4 evenings, 3 x pork and fish dishes were ok.There is still room for improvement in service.

We stayed in this beautiful hotel for 2 nights and slept in the castle residence. The rooms were modern and clean. The breakfast was very varied and delicious. All the employees were friendly.
