The snack bar at Klosterfischer offers an attractive range of delicious dishes that are freshly prepared. Plus friendly staff and a clean restaurant - what more could you want. We'll definitely come back.

I can only agree with my husband. The service is very nice, but cannot ignore the complete overpricing. I just hope the ladies benefit from the money and not a greedy boss!The bathroom amenities were extremely cheap. Toilet seat, shower, shower head... I haven't seen anything like that in a room for years. The breakfast... It was too much for me, individually wrapped in plastic. In this day and age it is unusual. Otherwise you rely on regional and organic quality. Not like that here.I would easily deduct 50 euros per room for this class of hotel, then the price-performance ratio would be right.Sorry, we like to spend our money on quality, but not there again.

I'm writing the review at night because raindrops drumming on metal almost rob me of sleep. Maybe move a few steps? Not at all; The cold, very small room (a sloping roof robs it of almost half of its space) refuses to let me do that. It's furnished quite spartan anyway. There are two upholstered chairs, but there is simply no table. The floor must be used to store the water provided. On the other hand, the small 0.25 liter bottle is only enough for one sip for both of us. The small bathroom has the charm of a hardware store. The breakfast also shines with its simplicity: cheap baked rolls accompany the cold, hard-boiled egg. The selection of yoghurt and fruit is very clear.So if you want to spend a lot of money (140 € per night) for very little in return, this is the right place for you!I would like to add: On the day of departure, at 7.30 a.m., there were actually scrambled eggs and a well-filled fruit plate.To the restaurant: 28 euros for an admittedly delicious fish dish is very steep. However, the mini jar of panacotta afterwards for 8 euros couldn't satisfy my hunger either. Although the service was very nice.

We were guests at the hotel for a weekend.The hotel is beautifully located in nature. The hotel consists of beautiful, restored buildings. There is an old, beautiful monastery complex right next door.Staff extremely friendly and helpful.Nice breakfast room with very tasty food (including fish and egg dishes).Room and bathroom: modern and bright. We slept very well.And would love to come back.

Very nice hotel. We had rooms in a converted building so the beam structure extended into the room. Very atmospheric. Buffet in the old sheepfold. Very nice and well-kept atmosphere in the old monastery.

I was in the Essen restaurant on August 23rd and 24th, 2024. On Friday with my parents and on Saturday with my better half. I was very positively surprised on both days. From the reception to the food and especially the service. I love that there are still restaurateurs who bring their heart and soul to the table. Absolute highlight.Then today I was there again, this time alone and nothing changed. Absolute top level. I am very enthusiastic and look forward to being able to visit this great restaurant again. Moving so many tables with so little manpower is a great achievement. I hope that you will stay with us for a long time. Kind regards Sandy and Karsten

The restaurant “Zum Klosterfischer” (large restaurant) is rated here.First of all: BEWARE OF RIP-OFFS!We told the waitress that we would like to share a main course (fish plate for just under 30 euros). We were told that we could get two small portions so that everyone could try something of everything. While waiting for the food, we realized that according to the small print on the menu, we might be able to get a small fish plate twice. All dishes are available there for 3 euros cheaper as a small portion. This fact was never clearly explained to us. Nobody pointed out to us that we had to be aware that our request for a shared meal was converted into two small portions and that we had to pay 2 x 25 euros. As a result, the bill included two small fish plates at 25 euros each! Together with two small appetizers and drinks we had to pay over 90 euros. It was only thanks to my wife's persuasion that I didn't bang on the table loudly and pay the bill. This is the worst tourist rip-off I've ever come across. In addition, the price-performance ratio is completely inadequate. Furthermore, you immediately and constantly notice the busy business acumen of the waitresses. An additional salad is forced upon all guests. Sales clearly seem to be the priority here!!! The restaurant should definitely be avoided. You can choose to eat at the snack bar next door.

Visually an interesting and beautiful hotel. Unfortunately very noisy and complicated. Reception is not directly in the hotel but in the restaurant. As a hotel guest you also have to reserve a table for dinner or lunch. You also have to move to another building for breakfast. Internet television would be nice, which is nothing unusual or special these days. Unfortunately there are no cooling options in the rooms either. Anyone who carries medication with them needs to keep this in mind. Insects of all kinds have free access, so window fees could help. The price is more like 5 stars and unfortunately the food isn't exactly cheap. Even the simplest dishes are relatively expensive. However, the service in the restaurant is very nice and friendly. The overall impression is a good, clean hotel but unfortunately not a bargain at all.
