This review applies solely to the behavior of the hotel owner, who did not adequately deal with a mistake he made. He barged into our room while I was in it. It was a mistake; he had wanted to show future guests a room, made a mistake on the floor, apologized and left again.The situation bothered me more than I realized at first. I felt extremely violated in my privacy. After the sauna, I was relaxing on the bed in my pajamas when suddenly a strange person stood in the doorway, right next to the bed.For me, a quick apology wasn't the end of it. I felt too shocked and humiliated for that. When asked about this, the owner initially reacts annoyed (“I already apologized!”) and then aggressively (“What do you want from me, should I waive about half of the room price?”). He seemed to have no understanding of what it actually feels like to have privacy violated like that. A surprising attitude from a hotel owner. For me, a certain humility, an acknowledgment of my injury and a friendly gesture would have been important. But that was out of the question.I will definitely not visit this hotel again and will not recommend it to others. Dealing with one's own serious mistake was far too insensitive for that. It ruined the end of our actually nice short vacation.

Unfortunately disappointing.We stopped in with two families after a hike. Kitchen only for house guests was the unmotivated statement from the “service” management. Of course the children were really happy. The alternative was waffles and cake, which was good.

A loving oasis of well-being in a fantastic landscape. I hiked in the morning and enjoyed the sauna area in the afternoon. The place is in the middle of the volcano crater. That's what makes him so special.

We had a good 4 day holiday with good food. But to our surprise we were then accused of theft of a blanket and a basket while the reason was negligence of the staff. An invoice was immediately sent without asking. We have still not received an apology for this.

Very nice location. The paths around the Maar are great for walking.Beautiful rooms, very clean, great kitchen.Extremely friendly, courteous staff and nice owners.Ideal for holidays with dogs: possibility to order food in advance, hiking boot room with towels for dogs to rub dry, cozy dining room for guests with dogs...What I was missing a bit: I would have liked more storage space in the room and the bathroom was a little bigger. Our dog didn't want to walk over the metal stairs to the hiking boot room.But otherwise everything was great.A very nice holiday - we would love to come back.This time we stayed in the "NebenDran" and were very pleasantly surprised. The guest house turned out really nice. We felt extremely comfortable.Breakfast and food in the restaurant were again top. Good selection for vegetarians and vegans too.Staff as accommodating, cheerful and kind as always.The next stay at the “Maarblick” has already been booked.

Thanks to the closed road in front of the hotel it is very quiet. The diverse applications are very good. The food gets 4 out of 5 points because there are some convenience products.

The location, the room, the wellness area… everything was TOP.I would love to give it 5 stars, but unfortunately there are deductions in service.Unfortunately, the service is a bit overwhelmed, but that's probably not the employees' fault, it's probably more due to the lack of staff, as is the case everywhere, and the lack of trained staff.Sometimes you had to wait a long time for your drinks, which is a shame.Furthermore, they try very hard to accommodate guests' intolerances, but unfortunately it is not yet fully developed. Example………on a menu card it says “(without pork and dairy products)” in brackets and the cream soup is listed in the menu……doesn’t quite fit together.But they're trying hard and that's really great.The food itself tastes very good and is very tasty.Communication from the reception and the wellness area should also be worked on. We had booked a basic cosmetic treatment and were then told in the wellness area that they did not offer any cosmetic treatments. This was a great shame. But I then decided on a massage as an alternative.Overall it was a very nice holiday and stay.P.S. Your employee Patrick ALWAYS had a smile and was very hard working (and he has a great work ethic). They should try to keep someone like that.

(Review from 2018) Top hotel, very nice staff, excellent food. Vegetarians and vegans will always find something here, well-kept wellness area, good room facilities, room for hiking boots, MTBs can be safely locked. Very suitable as a starting point for MTB tours. Very happy again. The small problem is the poor or no internet reception, but it's also good to not be available for FB, Whatsapp, Twitter and co. Update 2024 Internet has now become significantly better. The food is still excellent, I can't understand the negative reviews here. The newly added house is also very well equipped. The style and the ambience fit. Unfortunately, a small downside doesn't quite fit into the otherwise excellent concept. The service could be a little quicker. Waiting 20 minutes for two cyclists when the terrace is not fully utilized is a little too long for this house. Ok, now that's a little whining on a higher level. We would love to come back.

Saddest experience so far in 2024. Booked as a dog hotel. Dogs are primarily tolerated here. No leaks or anything else. We had booked full board. Breakfast looks good. At lunchtime we brought this to the attention of the responsible restaurant manager, who unfortunately didn't speak German very well. He seated us, handed us the menu, we ordered and got the bill. When we complained about this on the bill, the junior manager said that the employee had probably misunderstood and offered to take two non-alcoholic drinks off the bill. By the way, the evening menu: 5 courses, the first course being the salad buffet. This was also necessary because the corridors were very manageable. The starters were prepared and came straight from the fridge. Not tasty in terms of taste. At night, even a man in his mid-fifties was hungry. At around €300.00 per night, it's a poor price-performance ratio. Unfortunately no recommendation from us.

Price too high for the performance. Food ok but nothing special. In the main course, the meat was dry, cold, and the sauce was dried out. I wanted to keep my plate at breakfast. The waitress's comment was that this had never happened before and they had enough plates. Small outside terrace for the size of the house. You have to make a reservation. Sauna area nice, but small. Access to the old and new areas is difficult via stairs. Relaxation rooms very nicely decorated! The advertising and pictures promise more than the house can deliver.
