I love this place for a weekend stopover from a hike for a meal or coffee. The area and the hotel have no doubt seen better times, but that is what gives it its special charm. It's like time travelling back to 1979 or something and it's kind of hidden away like a secret location. Good food but only Fridays to Sundays.

Stayed at this hotel for one night in June 2014 while walking the Witches Trail. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable with a balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. …

Went there for dinner last week after a walk. It is in a very quiet location, the food is very good and tastes very good. Anyone who passes there on a hike should stop there.

Very nice, very quiet forest hotel with good food and drink. Ideal for hikes around the ponds or on the Harzer Hexenstieg. Clean and nice!

Friendly boss, nice restaurant and delicious beer 🍺. When the weather is nice you can sit outside. The location on the edge of the forest is very romantic.

This hotel is a real journey through time. Modernism has left this house without a trace. The decor, service and food are like grandma's times. If you are on a diet or are a vegetarian, you may be disappointed. We liked it and were thrilled. Price/performance is right and it tasted good too. Real recommendation also as a hiking destination.
