A very special place, indeed. It is a huge park with some garden, lots of interesting flowers, bushes and trees. In between the lush greens is a big log cabin, formerly the living space of the founders - Kurt and Erna Kretschmann - nowadays a museum about the founders activities for protecting the native environment. Now the inheritance is managed mostly by volunteers and very little permanent staff. They have added a house for events and some guestrooms to the property, thus enableing them to host even private parties. Also, there are 2 huts and a playground for children. Visiting groups of kindergarteners or small schoolchildren may enjoy an overnight stay. On top, there is a hay-hotel - never slept better in my live!

Spend the night in the hay, a different overnight alternative. It was nice and is recommended. If you stay overnight, you have free entry to the garden and the Owl Tower.

It has subsided quite a bit, the garden is no longer as beautiful as it once was, a shame 😢

The ladies there put a lot of effort into it. It's worth a visit. The homemade herb butter and the drink were really great

Dr. Max Kienitz nature trail, highly recommended. Dr. Kienitz was the inventor of the environmental owl and lived with his wife in Bad Freienwalde.

On my itinerary was the Owl Tower, which was located on this beautiful property. Entry fee is €2. If I had had more, I would have put more into it because the garden with all its details is prepared and maintained with a lot of love. Lots of small herbs & flower beds. Memories marked with signs & sayings. Just beautiful. The Owl Tower is located at the top of the mountain and offers a beautiful view with labels in every direction. I can only recommend a visit. 🥰

Beautiful garden with a viewing tower, which we discovered as part of our tower hike. You pay the entrance fee using a trusted cash register. The garden is very well maintained and invites you to linger. This place is definitely worth a detour.

The cradle of nature conservation in the former GDR. Supported and motivated by committed people to this day. I know the house from my school days and visit it year after year. Many thanks to the “troops” and strength/resources for the future.

Great accommodation options (including a hay hotel and Finnhütten) in a huge garden with a fantastic view. Some alternative technologies (composting toilet, solar shower), but also fully equipped kitchen and very attentive and friendly staff. All in all a great experience!

Great thing, especially for children to get involved with nature and find out where certain foods come from.
