We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel, our room was light and airy and a good size, and spotlessly clean. …

My room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The tv was new as were the bedside units table and dressing table unit. The shower had loads of pressure and was nice and hot with fully adjustable temperature. The restaurant is self service with good selection of food both at breakfast and dinner. The salad starter options were delicious. There was a 2 for 1 bar for 3 hours every night and entertainment on 2 nights out of the 4 nights I stayed there so couldn't complain!!

A real mix of good and bad! You need ID to check in - this is not normal and they don't tell you in advance, only at reception. The hotel was fairly clean. Unclear if there is a restaurant because people do go somewhere, but there is no information about it. There is a coffee bar that did not appear to be open. The front doors appear to be locked by 8 am, that's not normal. Room was large. Sockets were far from bed. Lights were good. Bathroom had soap but no shower gel. Should you stay here? Maybe when very cheap.

It’s great. Fab location right in city centre close to cathedral and everything. You need photo id and card. It’s very cheap. An old hotel with everything you need and spacious rooms with comfy beds. The shower curtains are too friendly though…

I had booked another hotel nearby, but on the day of my arrival they called to say they had had a flood and had transferred me to the Britannia Coventry.  …

I'll start off with the positives. The location was ideal for anyone visiting Coventry, you're round the corner from the cathedrals and the city shopping area. The price is very good for a city hotel and the rooms were large and clean with the usual basics you'd expect from any hotel these days. The things that let the place down is the dated outside, it makes you fear the worse. The other issue is the numerous signs that tell you that abuse to staff won't be tolerated. That's a given but one sign behind reception is all that's needed, not on every floor and all over reception. It puts a downer on the place and gives it that rough image when it's in fact a really nice place to stay. The random need to check everyone's ID baffled me. They didn't make a record of it so there was no point really and didn't give of good vibe to the place.Overall, I'd stay there again because the negatives didn't ruin the actual experience of the place.

Book somewhere else! ID is required for each guest, nothing in our emails or on Britannia's website. Receptionist Unhelpful, just kept repeating. I'm a British Citizen and do not carry ID with me....first fight. …
