Quirky hotel in the heart of Edinburgh, within walking distance to a lot of attractions. Our room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was a little funky but also unique. It is in a circular pod that reminded me of being on a boat or airplane. It was cozy but still had plenty of room. The staff were very outgoing. We had dessert (sticky toffee pudding) at the hotel restaurant, which was nice. Our room had free snacks and drinks, next to the coffee maker. I thought that was a lovely touch.I would definitely stay here again.

My Mum and Brother and myself enjoyed a wonderful stay for three nights in September and it was fantastic. This hotel has well priced parking nearby in addition to having a truly fabulous location, that is right in the heart of the action of this vibrant city.My Mum and I ended up with an accessible room that we had changed after one night as the bathroom flooded & then went into a standard room with an incredible pod bathroom that proved a much better for for our needs. The other bathroom shower drain had been clogged with hair that was later removed by maintenance.Last but certainly not least, the staff at this property are universally excellent as the front of house particularly went above and beyond to accommodate our every need with grace, patience and efficiency.I cannot begin to express my gratitude to these staff in particular for their professionalism and practicality. It's a really lovely hotel, with great rooms, in a brilliant location within a fabulous city that I would love to return to at some point as Edinburgh has a rich history and cultural depth to explore that deserves weeks to uncover rather than only a couple of nights.Thank you to everyone involved in our stay as we had a fabulous stay.

I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. I believe that most of the positive reviews are either paid for or fake.First of all, the windows in the room do not open at all, making it impossible to get fresh air or ventilate the room. Yes, there is air conditioning, but it does not provide fresh air. Additionally, the bathroom and toilet are not in a separate area but rather placed in one corner of the room as a container, which makes the space very small and poorly ventilated. As a result, when someone uses the toilet, the smell spreads throughout the entire room, and since you can’t open the windows, there’s no way to air it out.Although the hotel has many rooms, the elevator capacity is inadequate, so you constantly have to wait for the elevator. Furthermore, since the hotel is located on one of the busiest streets in the city, there’s always street noise, even with the windows closed. The floors are not carpeted but wooden, and there are no slippers provided for use in the room. This forces you to walk barefoot on surfaces that people have stepped on with their shoes, which is quite unhygienic. In conclusion, I would not stay at this hotel again, nor would I recommend it to anyone considering it. I, too, trusted the reviews when I booked, but now I believe they are either fake or paid for.

Great service/check-in experience. The room itself was fairly nice, comfortable bed, spacious. Great location/easy to get around from. The main issues I had were around noise - consistently heard something heavy being pushed around below my room, noises from outside my room from very early in the morning (as well as lots of random odd sounds throughout the night), the sound of wrapping fingernails on my door early in the morning (which was more than a little unnerving). Generally a very unsettled nights sleep. I assume it's a lottery based on the room you get - perhaps I was unlucky (bring earplugs). The room was also in an odd place, just past the bar/breakfast area so when I left the second door from my room there was immediately a table with people seated and eating. I feel like moving that table would probably provide a better experience for people staying in the rooms, as well as the folks eating/who end up sitting there.Breakfast was OK - good value. Not great if you're looking to start the day with something healthy (very few fresh veg options and not really many healthy cooked options apart from the scrambled eggs - mostly fatty/fried stuff, pork, hash browns etc.) - I imagine this appeals to most people who stay but it would have been nice to have more variety.

We had a very pleasant stay. We arrived early to store our luggage but the nice chap at reception told us our room was ready. We were very impressed with the cleanliness and yes the bathroom wasn’t huge but it was spotless. …

We booked this hotel mostly due to the price we got. However the location was excellent as we got the train to Waverley and it was only about 5-10 minutes walk. …

Our place had a broken bathroom door and dirty floors/walls. We raised concerns with front desk staff and were met with disrespect on more than one occasion. This place has exactly one thing going for it and it is location. You can attain a similar or improved experience from a hostel at a fraction of the price.Update: this company did reach out to discuss further, privately, and much like their response here, slipped in some passive aggression and argumentativeness amidst apologies. Reviews like this seem to be common for them. Hopefully they take more diligent and respectful measures in the future.

Great location, only a few minutes walk from key sights. The bed was comfy with nice touches in the room (dressing gown, drinks/snacks) and had everything needed for a short stay. There are barely any plug sockets in the rooms and I had to hunt around for the extension cable that's been provided, but once that was located there were no issues. The boat cabin-like bathrooms are decent, though I could hear other people using theirs in nearby rooms which was a little annoying. The bar/breakfast area was nice and offered a good spread in the morning.

Our stay at the ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge - Royal Mile had its ups and downs. The first room we were given was quite dated, with noticeable chips in the floors and walls—something you might expect from a budget hotel. …

The Ibis is an "economy" hotel that uses it's prime location close to the train station and the Royal Mile to command much higher prices than the hotel is generally worth. The design of the hotel is aggressively spartan and minimalist.  …
