5* fabulous gluten free afternoon tea 🌟 The scones are by far the best I've tasted. All savoury and sweet selections were impressive. Lovely historic surroundings and super service. We topped our visit off with a gin in the garden and stroll around the grounds. Perfect Mother's Day 💓

This is a 500 + year old building made into a working 3 star hotel. It is therefore quirky and if you are looking for a modern hotel, this is not for you. We loved it. Welcomed in the driveway by Micha the friendly cat and some chickens and roosters. Our host Neil who is a bit of a one man band was friendly and helpful throughout our 1 night stay. The room no 5, was large and the bed comfortable so we slept well. Dinner was nice and breakfast excellent. After dinner we retired to what used to be the food storage cellar with arched roof and flagstone floor made into a bar and enjoyed a blether and some fine malts. Not for everyone but we loved it as did all our fellow guests last night.

Just went for afternoon tea and certainly enjoyed all our food and Earl Grey tea.The scones were small but very light and tasty.I would have given 5 stars but we weren't given cake forks to eat our lovely looking cakes. No problem usually as I would just ask the staff but after our food was delivered to our table the staff disappeared from the dining room. After waiting about 15mins a young guy came into the room but instead of checking to see if all the customers were happy, he just cleared a table. After he had cleared two tables I did manange to attract his attention. I asked if we could have cake forks to eat our cakes. He seemed surprised but went out of the room only to come back with just standard dinner forks! The venue is in a lovely location and it certainly has some very interesting rooms for dining plus a bar and seating area which is like a cave.

Went for afternoon tea using itison voucher. Not great value for money. When we arrived for our table booked at 2 we were told they were running behind so had wait half an hour then we got 3 finger sandwiches each on Tesco bread. Shop bought scones 2 each and tiny shop bought cakes 2 each. The toilets were blocked with over flowing bins. It could be a stunning setting but it's very unkept. We had to pay extra for the kids which was fine but we weren't offered any drinks other than the tea it came with. Missed opportunity. Just seemed to want people in and out. Would not recommend. There is better quality better value elsewhere.

We spent an overnight stay with 4 course meal and breakfast a lovely bottle of prosecco on arrival in our large room the weather was a bonus which we made advantage of the beautiful grounds around the castle. All staff were most friendly and very good at their job. A great relaxing atmosphere here was great to know that dogs are welcome as other guest were there with their dogs👍Somewhere I'd book again and recommend highly.

Beautiful Location. Food is spectacular and for once I even enjoyed eating Haggis! Grounds are stunning, vines growing on the castle are lovely and there's goats and chickens and Highland Cows also housed there. The bar is atmospheric with a decent choice of drinks. Staff and owners are friendly and welcoming

My husband and I had a wonderful overnight stay at Fernie Castle. The room was large, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was delicious and filling. We had fun visiting the animals. Best of all was the warm welcome we received from the staff.
