Clayton feels like a new hotel still finding its way.The rooms were big and comfortable, which was great. However, we were a bit disappointed with the cleaning. Sometimes it felt like the cleaning team didn’t vacuum the carpets, and the bed was made by just placing the cover on top instead of checking the sheets properly.I mentioned this to the receptionist, who offered to send someone back up, but my partner and I had already had enough for the day.A nice touch is that you can ask for cleaning even after 5 p.m.The next day, after asking for a more thorough clean, the room was vacuumed and well-prepped.Breakfast is a self-serve buffet, like you’d expect at most hotels, but it was actually a great spread with plenty of choices. I was a bit disappointed by the croissants—though I get it, we’re not in France! The staff service was great overall. Every time I had a request, they were quick to help. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because of the cleaning team, as they are also part of the staff and brought down the overall experience a bit.The location is fantastic—right in the center of Manchester, close to almost everything.Note to the ManagerIt might be worth encouraging the cleaning staff to pay closer attention to details. I get that it’s a tough job, but it’s a shame that this is the only reason for a less-than-perfect review.P.S.Every Monday, there’s a test alarm. It would be helpful if the team could let guests know about this in advance to avoid confusion. You might also want to consider a clear guideline for guests—like always leaving the room when they hear the alarm.

Located on Portland street your never far from all the action. Your a 10 min walk to Piccadilly and the shops and our son lives in the nearby Deansgate apartments. We absolutely love Manchester and if I was 20 years younger I would have moved and relocated from Scotland. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The check in/out was super efficient and didn't need to speak with a receptionist. The drinks bar was well staffed and had a good selection. I think all future trips to Manchester will be at the Clayton Hotel.

We went for a friends 50th birthday. We had afternoon tea. The food was amazing. I’m vegan and how much choice I had was excellent. Our waiter Adam was very attentive and very confident with our meal as there was quite a lot of different needs for us. I would definitely come here again.

We used the self check in/out which was so easy. Reception staff so polite and helpful. The room was spotless with everything we needed. The food in the restaurant had a really good choice and so did breakfast.  …

This is a lovely hotel, just an easy ten minute walk from the centre.Great facilities and room, especially for the price. The hotel check in/out machines made everything super quick, efficient and easy, and the hotel car park was lovely (just make sure you arrive early to get a space, as many people had just dumped their car in random places because there were no spaces left). The only complaint about our stay we had was that while in the shower, I realised the shower was overflowing and water was running out of the bathroom door. I lifted up the drain cover and the drain was completely blocked with hair and muck, and looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned out in years. As there was three of us needing a shower, we had to unclog it ourselves, which was not a pleasant experience.Apart from that, we had a lovely stay and would still definitely stay again. Thank you!

I had a great stay at this hotel. The rooms are modern, clean, and the location is perfect. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Nikita. She went out of her way to bring me a freshly made cappuccino during breakfast, which made my day. Highly recommend for the excellent service and comfort!By the way the breakfast is also better than most hotels in the area!

Absolutely incredible stay!! Highly highly recommend staying here if visiting Manchester. Affordable prices with modern and very clean rooms, close to city centre and all public transport! As soon as we entered the reception staff were all very welcoming and bubbly and of course super helpful, even offered to see if our room was ready at 10am!The front office Manager was very efficient and helped us add an extra night.Pre booking breakfast the night before to receive a discount was great idea, the breakfast itself was amazing! So many options available and everything kept covered and hot! Great selection of juices available and service staff was very efficient. Our room was absolutely stunning, very clean and spacious and had modern features and also a nice view! The convenience of the location of the Clayton hotel was great, lots of cafes and restaurants within walking distance.Couldn’t recommend enough staying here!

I am impressed with the Clayton from top to bottom. The bar area is fantastic, the layout isn't over crowded and there's plenty of plugs. The bar is well stocked too.The rooms are pretty basic but well done, like when you make a simple recipe but you then have the pressure of getting it perfect. The only downside is the seemingly centrally controlled central air system. It can only heat up and you can barely get any cool air to come out of it. I like to keep my room cool and if you're in a South facing room you bake unless you close the curtains. You may get some ambient noise coming from outside in the late evening due to its location but come on people, it's a city centre hotel bang smack in the middle of one of the largest night life hotspots in the city! It is totally bearable. At the core of this place though is the staff who are absolutely awesome each and every one of them. It's why I keep coming back.

We had an afternoon tea here for our anniversary, a gift from some friends. The food was lovely and the service excellent! The bar area is nice and airy, with large windows, through which you can watch the world go by. A special shout out to Karen in the bar, who really looked after us!!
