A quick note about me: I have been sleeping at many hostels and done several homestays, I'm not really a picky guest. That being said, let's start with something positive: The staff is amazing! …

The service was very friendly, warm and welcoming. The room was adequate for myself. I got a lot of work, which I brought with me done. The bed was comfy. Though I didn't sleep very well a lot of noise, doors banging etc so woke up still feeling tired. The toilets could do with a bit of TLC in terms of cleanliness. However, great location brilliant bar downstairs, friendly atmosphere despite staying alone, I soon got talking to people at the bar! They do a discount on drinks too at the bar if you're a guest at the hostel. It's a city centre hostel where the life does not stop. So bear in mind that there will be noise, traffic, nightlife right on the doorstep! The old Victorian style building is huge and eccentric, so blends in perfectly with the rest of Manchester's hipster/retro/bohemian Northern Quarter. #lovemanchester 👌

Can't fault the room as such, it was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was nice. Unfortunately there was a bright green light in one of the fixtures that lit up the whole room so brightly I feel like I barely slept. Not ideal when traveling for work, and given the price I paid (although that was high due to multiple large events in the city)

I ignored the negative reviews before booking this hostel as I was on a short trip and wanted something close to the centre but do I regret it! This was honestly the worst hostel I ever slept in.My dorm looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months judging by the amount of dust around my bed and the only two toilets available on my floor were disgusting. The lack of decent facilities was appalling. There is no working lift. The lockers are really small and many of them have broken doors. There were way too few power outlets in my dorm. We couldn't turn the heating off either. The sinks have been leaking since forever judging by the reviews. The toilets are incredibly old and noisy, the showers smell bad and the temperature of the water cannot be changed.More importantly, as a solo female traveller I didn't feel safe at all while staying there. Virtually any guest can access the shared showers for instance - the doors of which are partly see-through and don't lock. You had to get naked and then dressed in the freezing shower room knowing full well than somebody could come in at any moment. I also should probably mention that I stayed in a female only dorm, yet a guy spent the night there and staff never apologised or gave an explanation for that.

The building and staff are quite lovely. I truly want to give them a stellar review based on that but in all honesty the amenities were less than optimal. The kitchen was under construction, the water in the shower was like an exciting game of scorching hot and ice cold, and the beds were quite uncomfortable. There also was a single bathroom with shower and toilet per each room. However, It did feel extremely clean and safe.

Not one to complain/write reviews - however this was the worst hostel experience I've ever had in the 5 years I've been actively travelling and staying in hostels. The staff were pleasant and doing their best, however the owners are not providing enough support nor care enough about this business.1. There was no hot water in the shower. Because it was the weekend, their maintenance man was unavailable to fix this. They also did not have consent to call a plumber to resolve this issue which meant cold showers in the ensuite for our dorm.2. Key cards were not working properly. One time, I had to go up to the room (on the 3rd floor) and back to reception 3 times until a key card would work.3. After 2x nights without hot water in the shower, they moved me into my own room - GREAT! However still no hot water...Also, I was woken at 2am by a member of staff turning the lights on and standing over me in my room to check I belonged there as they had screwed up the bookings and had double booked the room. I believe the guests that the room was also booked for ended up sleeping on a couch in the common room....The owners need a reality check for what they think they can get away with considering how much they are charging per night! Absolutely disappointed with this experience.

As hostel I feel it was a great experience . The room was clean. I received daily housekeeping. I did not know that towels were at additional charge. But it was only 2 pounds English currency . I didn't . Mind to much hehelol. And met .Some interesting and pleasant people male and female. Staff was very pleasant and courteous. And I really liked the 15% discount off at the restaurant bar next door. My experience was 4 bed dorm . For me it was perfect.

Absolutely horrible. Would never come back and would not recommend. The beds are sinking, the blanket had disgusting blood stains. The toilet were covered with urine stains all over and the Niagara is placed high and dripped on me.Out of four showers only one was half functional, even in that one the stream is so weak you have to touch the wall to wash yourself. The showers are shared, they have fixed temperature and you have to push a button every 15-20 seconds to get water. There is no soap there and the windows are constantly open. The room was very dusty and clearly haven't been washed at least 2-3 weeks. Everything I put on the floor got really dirty. My room key stopped working twice, what sent me three floors up and down half clothed. The bar was excellent, but closes at midnight.Breakfast is very dull: bread, boxed margarine, boxed jam and some cereal.I was very disappointed and almost cancelled my stay, wouldn't come back.

Location is good because it is a short walk from both bus stations and train and tramway. Beds could be better, but aren't that bad either. There's only one dual power outlet per room and no lockers inside the dormitory, although there are small ones on the corridors. Toilets are their weakness, not clean, smelly, not enough for too much people, they should hire someone for cleaning them properly since no volunteer is going to do it well (no one would do that for free). They make this up with a nice free breakfast. Social areas and atmosphere are good, party vibes, makes it very easy to meet people. Not the best hostel I have been but I enjoyed my staying.

Cheap but isn't worth more. The room wasn't very clean, moisture on windows, very bad isolation and going to the restroom was an actual struggle as they aren't on the same floor and pretty hard to find. There's a card access to the dorm and the card reader didn't work properly so you usually had to try many times before it opened. The restroom wasn't clean, there was no soap when I was there to wash hands, the flush was veeeery old school. The dorm room was quite noisy due to bad isolation. On the other side, staff was very nice and kind and the bed (even though it was a bunk bed and I was in the top one) was pretty nice and comfortable.
