We stayed for a night whilst passing through, and what a lovely discovery this place was. Aside from the beautiful views, the hotel is stunning throughout. We had a warm welcome with champagne on arrival. We were booked in to a lovely local pub for dinner, and then had a lovely breakfast the following day. The service was great as was the location. Really felt welcomed.

A wonderful nights stay! We received a very warm welcome and a glass of fizz upon arrival, and went we got to our room we were impressed. The room was fabulous, well decorated, clean and comfortable with great views. We were recommended (and also booked in) to a great local pub for food and in the morning had a simple but welcomed continental breakfast. A great host, beautiful friendly little dog and a fab hotel - cannot fault it.

New owners and just wow. We absolutely loved our stay. We wanted to check out the hotel ahead of inviting our family to do the same and they excelled in every way. Morning papers, home cooked breakfast from local ingredients, drinks on the terrace (with the views some of the best in Snowdonia), exquisite decor and most importantly the warmest of Welsh hospitality. Thank you so very much!

This place has new owners and they have done a fine job renovating. We were their first customers through the door and whilst it was obvious that it were a new venture, the hotel and service was fantastic. No doubt it will be a success!

We spent one night here recently, room was very nice and cosy, spacious and quirky just to my liking. We'd had a hard long day cycling, checked in, staff were friendly and helpful, they "parked" our bikes for us in the garage, while we collapsed in the bath in the room and tucked into the complimentary sloe jin. We didn't try the restaurant as the smart casual dress code pretty much ruled us out. Only slight complaint was the double bed was two singles connected by a uncomfortable hard bit.

There is no way on earth this can be regarded as a four star hotel. I stayed with my girlfriend last weekend for one night and found the hotel to be very disappointing in a number of aspects. The hotel was not air-conditioned which I suspect is what gave it a very odd stale smell throughout. The restaurant was extremely hot and humid and the windows were all closed on a very hot day (29 degrees), the windows were also extremely dirty and were covered in spiders webs on the outside so they'd clearly not been opened or cleaned in a while. The general appearance of the interior of the hotel was very poor, the carpets inconsistent between lobby, reception, bar, corridors, and rooms. The wear and tear on the carpets was extremely obvious in areas as was a lack of cleanliness. The bedroom we had (Cromwell) was extremely dated in appearance and equipment. There was no fridge or mini-bar in the room. There was no WiFi available in the room but there was "a modem port on the telephone" as if people still use dial up modems?!!The bedding was very dated and although we booked a double room we had two beds pushed together and two individual duvets. The staff were on the whole not at all charismatic or engaging, the service was generally very slow. The beer in the bar was not chilled and was stored on a shelf, I wasn't quite expecting a warm pint of ale...The food in the restaurant was certainly not that of a four star hotel, I had a terrine followed by the duck, both of which were sub standard, we did however have a very nice bottle of French merlot.I'm sure I was annoyed by a lot more at the time but the details evade me.The breakfast was good...

Recently stayed for 2 nights. Expectations not met. Decor grubby in room, dated elsewhere. Sweat/grease stains on headboard and similar shabbiness throughout. Restaurant seems to be welll liked, however to my taste the products were a little too chefy (too many mis-matched flavour). Staff very pleasant however when I approched the owner regarding a problem I had she was quite abrupt and intransigent. Also the fire exit nearest to my room was blocked by dining table and chairs. I expect this was a wonderfull hotel a decade or so ago, things have slipped. I would not recommend this hotel to friends or family.
