During the Covid-19 pandemic we expected a similar high standard of cleanliness that we had found in the hotel we had stayed in for the first part of our holiday but found exactly the opposite and there were absoutely no coronavirus …

We stayed here in September for 2 nights as we were 3 couples attending a wedding close by and so needed to stay the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding.  …

Room was clean and functional. Bed awful . Like sleeping on a board. Lovely traditional old pub though. Beer was cheap and the barkeep Alex was lovely. But for £45 for one night you can’t expect much.

Avoid this pub with rooms at all costs. We stayed during Covid-19 pandemic and the hotel was dirty both outside and not very clean inside.Tea/Coffee in the bedroom was black and solid it had never been changed for weeks. Although the soft furnishings were new/modern the carpet and bathroom were not.Just avoid for a drink or overnight stay

All the good reviews on this place are lies go with the bad ones and you won't be disappointed. The brecon beacons are flatter than the bathroom floor . TV that didnt work . The whole place needs a revamp . Avoid this place at all costs cleaner's vacuum even has mud flaps attached to it .. I star is to much for this hotel (bail hostel)

I would like to think this is more of an advisory review than a moan. I’m not a fussy person but when you pay to stay somewhere you expect something in return. For example warm or hot water, flushed toilet, a tv that works etc. …

Not the poshest hotel out there but for £50 a night for 2 people I never expected it to be. Very hot water in the shower. Clean bedding and towels. Tv and coffee/tea. Looks a bit run down but it is an old building so has character. Would stay again

Mixed feelings about The Castle Hotel. Room 7 was acceptable with clean sheets and towels, TV and free WIFI. Bathroom left much to be desired. Towel rail unuseable as it was hanging off the wall, toilet roll holder was hanging on for grim death, black mold around the base of the shower, apuddle of water in front of the sink after using the toilet and the sink, not sure where it was coming from, sink, waste or macerator! Maybe consider a proper net curtain wire instead of string and a coat hook on the back the bathroom door. Believe the owners should have used the opportunity of lockdown to run a simple, easy and cheap maintenance programme. Also believed the price included breakfast after reading previous reviews, Sadly not, had to walk down the road to Granny's Cafe and had an excellent breakfast, however this added an extra £17 to £70 one night stay.

The problem here is the infrastructure. The building is a run-down mess. The previous manager was a friend of my customer so for the last 20 years I have kept quiet throughout many stays. …

Dirty yellow coulered duvet and pillow room smells as if it's never been cleaned since the great plague of London absolutely shocking. Wouldn't ever stay there again rubbish.
