Friendly and full of local color. Clean, well-stocked rooms, and an easy walk to the main street. There was some confusion regarding whether breakfast was included, but they were very accommodating and the breakfast we did have (for a small additional fee) was excellent and convivial.

The pub and inn are nice but the staff make the place. Everyone was so welcoming and made us feel like longtime friends from the moment we arrived. We originally booked for one night but ended up staying for three, all because of the staff and locals. The rooms are perfectly clean, well heated, with a nice bathroom. The cooked breakfast was excellent with so much food that we weren't interested in eating again until the late evening. The clientele of the pub was such a welcoming group to a couple of US visitors that we were initially surprised, but we have since learned that it is just the Welsh way. The Red Lion was a random Google find for us, which will now be a lasting memory of our visit to Cardigan.

A lovely place to stay, lovely clean rooms, lovely full breakfast, very helpful staff, cheap beer, car park is free and by a very scenic river about a 30 second walk, its a local pub and the customers are very friendly, very close to the town centre

The Red Lion I thought it was a lovely place to stay. The room was warm and comfortable and if you wanted to alter the temperature in the bedroom, you could do, no problem. Massive bed and very comfortable and warm. Good size toilet and shower room, very nice. Would I recommend this place to others, yes I would without a doubt and I too am thinking of coming back again anyway. That's why I'm giving the Red Lion five stars with no regrets.

They have obviously spent money on a refurb upstairs, but a shame that some minor details weren’t followed through. …

I've never stayed at this hotel and I never would. I live on the same street as the hotel and despite being 80 yards away I can hear the music and their awful loud, noisy bar patrons until around 3.30 am some days. It's incredibly frustrating but they are not willing to do anything about it. From now on I'm reporting them EVERY SINGLE TIME I am disturbed by the noise. Eventually the council will be so sick of hearing from me all the time that they will have to do something. Close the place down I hope!I feel so bad for those trying to sleep there! And the locals say how dirty the place is. Steer clear... There is better accommodation close by.

Room is fine. Bathroom a little dirty (mould in the shower). Breakfast was nice.If you want to sleep. Don't book a room. You can hear all of the music being played in the bar, as if it was in your room.We mentioned to the staff after our first night and it was suggested they couldn't do anything about the noise. The music was played extremely loudly until the early hours.I think it is very unfair the room comes without a warning of the noise. As if we were made aware of it, we wouldn't have booked. It's a shame really. If it wasn't for the noise the room would be great value for money.Until they come up with a solution for the noise. We will not be returning

A True Welsh Gem: Red Lion Inn in Cardigan, West WalesRating: ★★★★☆Nestled in the picturesque Riverside village of Cardigan, in the tranquil valleys of West Wales, the Red Lion Inn stands out as a shining example of a remarkable pub. From the moment I stepped through its doors, I was enveloped in the genuine warmth and hospitality that is synonymous with the Welsh spirit.Conveniently situated in the heart of this small town, with a population of approximately 8,000, the Red Lion Inn captures the essence of its surroundings. The bar exudes a delightful atmosphere, where locals and visitors alike mingle effortlessly, creating an inclusive and welcoming ambience. It was a joy to find a pub where the community extends its arms to newcomers, making you feel like a part of the fabric of Cardigan. One aspect that truly stood out during my visit was the impeccable quality of the beverages on offer. A good pint is a true pleasure, and the Red Lion Inn certainly delivers in this regard. The crisp, clean beers served here easily surpass the standards set by most establishments. Each sip was a refreshing reminder of the artistry behind a perfectly crafted drink.Beyond the pub itself, the accommodations at the Red Lion Inn deserve commendation as well. The rooms were impeccably clean and maintained to a high standard, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay. While the Inn holds a well-deserved 3-star rating, I must express my opinion that it deserves another star. Perhaps the lack of on-site parking contributed to the rating, but fret not, as a free public car park is conveniently located just 20 yards away. For those seeking an authentic Welsh experience, I wholeheartedly recommend the Red Lion Inn. It serves as a gateway to immerse yourself in the vibrant Welsh culture that permeates every corner of Cardigan. From the warm greetings to the friendly atmosphere, this establishment captures the true essence of Welsh hospitality. In conclusion, the Red Lion Inn in Cardigan, West Wales, is a hidden gem that offers a memorable experience to all who step foot inside. With its charming atmosphere, exceptional beverages, and well-maintained accommodations, it surpasses the expectations set by its 3-star rating. Breakfast left a lot to be desired first day no butter no side plate one tea bag in pot of tea. Cooked breakfast fine. Second morning greeted one side plate butter and jam etc but no bread. Don't think the young lady doing breakfast wanted to be there. Apart from breakfast our stop was very enjoyable the locals made us very welcome. Need to get breakfast sorted then would be five star. Would stop again if breakfast was sorted .
