We spent three days staying in the Dornoch Station Hotel. The food and service were excellent. My only complaint is that the bedroom, while comfortable, was sadly lacking in drawers to put our clothes in. There was a long sideboard type piece of furniture but the space underneath was taken up by a fridge, large box with many teabags, another box with coffee pods, a tray with cups for tea and coffee, a coffee machine which left little space for clothes. The wardrobe had an ironing board and iron, a safe, two towelling robes and slippers all of which reduced the hanging space. The two bedside tables had handles but they were decorative. It would have been more sensible to have bedside tables with drawers and not to have an ironing board in, presumably, every room but rather one or two available for guests on request.Having said that the bed was very comfortable and the pillows the best I have ever had in a hotel.

From previous reviews I see other people have been double charged and over charged just like me.I’m honestly not one to write reviews but after the bad experience I’ve had I feel it’s important to warn others. I stayed at the hotel last week and was blown away by the interiors. It’s truly beautiful! But the service is absolutely appalling. My client had booked the accommodation for me which was then accidentally charged to me two days after I left even though I had confirmed in person with reception that my card was only to be used for extras and not the room payment they informed me the booker (my client) had the payment of the room covered. I was charge twice for dinner and drinks, once at the bar and a second time after I had left to the same card the room was charged to. I then went through a series of 6 phone calls in an effort to explain the situation and get refunded. Even after admitting to the error the amount of hurdles I have to over come to get my money back is unbelievable and one week later I am still out of pocket. I’m going to keep fighting for my refund.On a completely separate matter, one of the bar staff was publically bullying other staff members infront of me and other guests. Verbally abusing them. Very unprofessional and uncomfortable to listen too whilst trying to enjoy my dinner. Hard to believe in such an “Upmarket” hotel.So although this hotel is very beautiful please be wary of the poor service and overcharging.

We knew when we booked that we were going to be charmed, but not to this extent!The hotel is magnificent, superbly decorated in Scottish style.Dinner (at the bar) was also great, and the service was top notch.We had to leave early the next day (5:30am) and asked if it was possible to have a cooked breakfast. And the next day at 5:30 a.m., our little bags were ready! (We thought we wouldn't get them).So really flawless, I’ll let you admire the photos… [the price is not given, but it’s definitely worth the detour].You can go there with your eyes closed.

Very bad experience. We stayed with friends for 3 days. Floors in common areas were constantly dirty. We found the rooms still to be redone at 10pm and the solution was a simple apology. No one available to carry suitcases to the room due to the broken elevator. At check out not even 1 cent discount for rooms not redone..... unfortunately paid in advance with booking. They were also charging us for unpaid drinks. We asked for the manager but he wasn't there. We are still waiting for the call

Nestled away in the small town of Dornoch in the Scottish Highlands is the absolute gem of a hotel. Built in 1902 it contains a lot of its original charm and character but after being newly renovated in 2022 it now bost modern luxurious as well.We turn up to this hotel at 6am after driving up from london over night, with no booking and all of the staff looked after us. We were offered coffee and breakfast whilst the receptionist arranged a room for us to check into straight away.The room was beautiful with antique furniture with modern facilities. Interactive tv, tea/coffee making facilities and usb chargers in the plugs. Room was spacious and clean with an amazing view out over the Firth and out to sea.The restaurant was also amazing serving a select menu of locally sourced food which was very well presented and cooked to perfection. Compared to most top end restaurant the portion sizes were massive. There is no chance of anyone leaving here still feeling hungry.The hotel also offered a large range of activities from archery to golf and bike hire to explore the town.All in all a wonderful hotel in a great location made even better by the amazing staff

Really fab place for out group of 12 to stay. Loved the service, location and rooms. Golden Gorse was a nice restaurant and the Ross Bar was pure class. Excellent choice while in Dornoch!

Absolutely amazing experience, really friendly staff but at checkin and at breakfast. The room was gorgeous and so is the whole hotel, so many beautiful well chosen details all over the hotel! Delicios breakfast with plenty of choice, they make you hot breakfast by order. Amazing!! The outside needs some more work but as soon as you step inside the experience is amazing!

We had the best time - the staff were so attentive, kind and went out there way to make it an extra special few days! Only a stone's throw from one of the world's best courses too. Great for a group (we were 30+), or even couples, or a 4 ball of golfers. Very flexible in my opinion. Lovely fun bar, snooker table and great food. We were there three days and didn't need to leave the hotel!

It you're heading north of Inverness you must stop off in Dornoch. The Marine & Lawn touch is present everywhere at Dornoch Station. I can't praise them enough for producing a memorable place to stay. Highly recommended.

Had a single night stay as a treat. We enjoyed our stay and would return. The recent upgrading of the hotel has been very successful - the room was very comfortable and well provided with all the normal accoutrements you would anticipate. Dinner in the bar was tasty and well presented. Over all, a most enjoyable visit. It's not the least costly hotel in the area but worth considering for a stay in Dornoch.
