I stayed at the Victoria Inn for two nights. A lovely genuine welcome from the owner, Tian. My room was warm, bed comfortable, and en-suite clean with very hot water. Good supply of tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast was great. No evening meal available but that was probably because my visit was mid week in the low season. There are other places to eat nearby. The hotel is traditional, and great value for money.

Budget friendly accomadation in the town centre. Drinks reasonably priced.Room was spacious and clean. Owner was lovely. She made us very welcome. Breakfast was good although there was no choice just standard breakfast served with orange juice tea and coffee. Bar was very busy which is a good sign. We would stay again if in the area.

Cheap and cheerful, though stuck in the 80s. Everything could do with a face-lift, but the rooms were clean, bed comfy, and breakfast great. The host was very friendly, and I was not expecting a Chinese lady to be running the place. Because we booked well ahead, I don't think you'll find a cheaper B&B.

No frills B&B in an old pub. Rough around the edges but the rooms were comfy and good value for money, showers were hot and powerful, breakfast was spot on. Staff were friendly and helpful. …

£47 for a private room, absolute luxury after 6 days of wildcamping the Pennine Way. Host was lovely and happily sorted me a big vegan breakfast. Highly recommend for an easy/rest day on the PW.

Best hotel accommodation we had on our Pennine Way walk. Room clean and heated with lovely view out over this very interesting, old, partially restored town. Breakfast full english style. Functioning wifi and across street from PO and Co-op. This is a character hotel with a great manager committed to her guests.

The hotel is old and very dated - carpets were very worn, 1980's vintage TV in my small single room (that I couldn't get to work properly!), altogether it lacked any charm or appeal. …
