Warm and friendly welcome. Fantastic stay.|Great food and drinks. Comfortable room and a great breakfast. An amazing achievement by the local community to rescue and restore this lovely inn set in a moorland village. We stayed only one night as we broke our journey to Scotland. We will definitely return.

It was delightful. As other reviewers have said, a very warm welcome, cosy atmosphere, tasty food and decent value. We're visitors to the area, but wanted a change from the pubs around Pooley Bridge / Penrith.  …

Sorry the Howgate Foot crowd only had time for a token pint of Loweswater Blonde this week, but your welcome was as warm as ever. We're not back up until New Year. See you then! You're doing a great job!

We didn't stay overnight but ate there one evening. Lovely atmosphere with a buzz of conversation in the pub with good mix of drinkers, diners and dogs! A small but interesting and varied menu. Friendly staff, excellent food and ale. I ask for nothing more in a village pub.
