My husband said it was a hotel, it isn't, but it is a selection of self catering rooms in a large house with extensive grounds, an excellent kitchen/dining room and lounges. It's in a beautiful location with the Ravenglass and Eskdale steam railway running virtually past the door and max 10 minutes walk from Dalesgarth station. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay.Low score for service as there are no staff onsite but there's a phone link to the sister hotel the Woolpack Inn (just up the valley) and they can answer any questions or send someone down to help.

Awesome surroundings, great place for families, couples, group of friends to rest after hiking. It has commonly used books, games, place to hang together. There are a shared kitchen with all equipment you need. The trainstop is at the house.

So good we stayed an extra night!Loved the large room with very large comfy bed and it was a nice character property with gorgeous gardens with a stream. Nice powerful shower with hot water, fast WiFi! Enjoyed the fridge in the shared kitchen with ice maker! Towels were a nice suprise thank you :) the location is exceptional never wanted to leave so many things to do nearby including walking up to tongue pot for a swim, the eskdale railway, hardknot pass is fun but not for the faint hearted, the roman Fort, woolpack Inn does yummy food and drink, close to wasdale which is beautiful. No toilet roll was available so bring your own and some of the bath was stained, but everything appeared clean still, remote for TV didn't work and the dvd player inside the TV didnt work which was a shame but not the end of the world.

A beautiful building in a fantastic setting with easy going and friendly staff. We stayed in room 15 which looks out on the magnificent hillsides. Even on a Saturday night there wasn't any noise from guests coming and going. …
