Stop over on way back from Scotland. Lovely big, clean room overlooking garden and field of sheep. Lovely cooked breakfast. Short walk to Royal Oak for good food or into vilage itself which is very pretty. Would stay again as lots of walks nearby.

Well what can I say? Found this little gem, literally at the last minute. Having been grossly let down by an Airbnb accommodation, with a party of 8 and 3 children aged 8, 6 and 4 and at 9pm, a chance direction to Bongate House resulted in 3 rooms being prepared at short notice for us tired travellers. Allowed us to use the kitchen facilities to prepare our arranged meal. A very pleasant stay with a very accommodating hostess. Not all superheroes wear capes. Many thanks for saving what could have been a disaster 320 miles from home. A great night's sleep in comfortable surroundings with a breakfast fit for a king at short notice. Definitely a 5 ⭐.

Fantastic place to stay. Anne the owner is absolutely lovely and just so helpful. The room was large and beautifully furnished. It's a beautiful old building. Breakfast was absolutely spot on, warm and made with quality ingredients. Brilliant location for walking into Appleby and well within walking distance to a lovely pub with lovely food. 100% would stay again. Really recommend bongate house.

Stayed just the one night at Bongate. The room, facing the garden was very comfortable and had all that you needed in it. There’s a pub, the Royal Oak just down the road where i had a delicious evening meal. The breakfast at Bongate was well prepared and set me up for the return journey home after walking the Dales High Way. The owner, Anne was very friendly and helpful.

Spent two nights in this really delightful welcoming B&B. It has seven rooms and ours was a very comfortable large room with an excellent en-suite lovely little breakfast room and a wide choice of breakfast to please anyone.Easy to find and easy parking with good pubs and restaurants very nearby.The owner, Anne, couldn’t be more helpful and welcoming and clearly takes a loving pride in ensuring guests are happy. All In all, a very nice and quiet place to stay.
