(Apart from our situation just do a little digging and see what other people think of it - horrible)My cousin and aunty were visiting Edinburgh and staying in this place for a few days, upon arrival my aunty had a terrible accident and ended up hospitalised.In advance, we let The Residence No 8 know about us wanting to cancel our stay, and tried to, knowing that we had let them know in advance, if they could reimburse us the money as they had more than enough time to resell the room.They said this could be done, but out of them being "nice" they could offer to charge us 100 pounds less - but they had to answer that message in a very short timeframe. With both of them in the hospital, as you can imagine, they had very little to no time to be paying attention to this "nice" timeframe offered by the Residence No 8 team.My cousin, replied the message an hour after such rushed timeline - and after days of chasing them, they were very sorry to say that we had answered an hour too late, and therefore they were unable to offer us any refund.PLEASE, AVOID THIS PLACE WHEN VISITING BEAUTIFUL EDINBURGH - There are so many better places, with a supportive and caring staff behind them to spend your money on.And lastly, to the Residence No 8 team, thanks for helping in such unfortunate time, you have been a great and understanding lot.

The location is amazing, very central!I don't know about the other comments here but the room we had was clean, instructions to get the keys clear and simple. The team very réactive we even could early check in.My wife heard some noise late in the night of people leaving the club downstairs but I slept like a baby. The bed is very confortable. A bit expensive but everything else also was in Edinburg.

The location is good because it is close to everything but it is a disaster. There is no service because no one is ever there. The rooms are horrible because of the noise that comes in from the street, underneath the hotel there is a nightclub.... And let's not talk about the beds with springs that stick into you when you sleep. The location does not compensate for the rest, which is a zero.

This place is a filthy dump! No one has vacuumed or dusted in months! We were told it had a private bathroom. It is out in the hall and no one else is supposed to use it. Not really private! The bed mattress is oId and worn! would not recommend it to anyone! Only gave 1 star, because there is no zero!

Fantastic place to stay, the only very big down side is the night club right next door the noise was hurendus, shouting and screaming till 3 am, there was no escape from it. It is a shame but would never recommend or stay there again

Fantastic location, and a good room. We arrived early with a request if they could clean our room first. Which they did! A small room but perfect for our need. If you are too tall or fat you won't fit in the bathroom. No noise from the street like other reviews said but might depend on time of visit/room. Overall great price and would stay here again. Google maps may be confused as it is under a "bridge" so just be careful

For the price paid I did expect at least clean. I'm not prude I do festivals and laugh if my feet stink. But this place needed some serious tlc, there was dirt and saw dust around the room.The bathroom was so small I couldn't sit on the toilet front on.Location to be fair is walking distance to the castle and we liked that.However for the price I expect better.

The room was comfy enough for 2. However bring yourself earplugs because you are above a bar that goes on until 3am every night. The windows are paper thin and so are the walls so you can hear full on conversations.The room was pleasant enough can't knock it, my friends stayed in a hostel near by and had a more peaceful night.

Great Location welcoming staff very helpful as well went out there own way to make us feel welcomed self check in was great as well very clean property and every thing u would need hair dryer shampoo conditioner body wash etc staff had left some Scottish short bread that’s quite nice
