First of all: James is very nice and open-minded host! We had a chat with him and we immediately felt this was the right place for us to stay. He put a lot of effort in presenting the Scottish history and culture in the rooms and in the lounge. Also, for any tips for Skye to visit: he’s your man. Our room was by coincidence the smallest, but the bathroom was spacious and both were perfectly clean. And as a gift we got a postcard from Talisker Bay!

Good place for a stay to visit some sights in the Isle of Skye. Each room contains interesting snippets of Scottish history and game of shindy! Rooms are small but very clean and cosy.

James is a fantastic host, he is very friendly and has great knowledge of Scottish history. The house is in a very quiet area overlooking the loch, and just a few minutes walking from the Tallisker distillery and The Old Inn, a great pub. We stayed 2 nights - the room was very clean and had a comfortable bed. We can recommend staying at James' s house and hope to co me back one day. Thank you!

We were on a tight schedule in September with hotels booked in a domino fashion......a storm prevented our ferry from leaving the Orkney Islands and getting back to mainland Scotland and onto Skye. We were in a bit of a panic due to the hotels booked. We called Ceum Thairis to explain our situation and the owner/manager couldn't have been nicer and helped a very stressful situation for us become less stressful. We didn't get to go to Skye, but on the next trip when we do, we will definitely stay at Ceum Thairis as we truly appreciated their customer service and understanding.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience during my stay at Ceum Thairis on the Isle of Skye. Mr. Mark, our host, welcomed us warmly and even shared his private kitchen, making us feel right at home. The accommodations were spotlessly clean, including the bathrooms, and the location by the lakeside was simply picturesque. We were delighted to discover that the Talisker distillery and Fairy Pools were within easy reach. This stay, in my UK trip that covered various destinations, truly stood out as one of the best. What added to the charm was the presence of free single malt whiskey bottles in the garden, a delightful surprise. Mr. Mark also offered some fun badges as a bonus. In conclusion, we couldn't have asked for a better experience, and we wholeheartedly give Ceum Thairis 5 stars for its property, location, and the exceptional hospitality of our host. Highly recommended!

They were beautiful days full of activities, and the owner and his family were cooperative. We were the first guests before the development of the place. It was also a place for rest, relaxation, and a wonderful atmosphere on the island.

I stayed here for 5 days, one of my best days in Britain. The hostel owner and manager, James, was very helpful and interested in every detail, and I was the first guest. The location is quiet and suitable for those who love quiet nature. The hostel is 20 minutes away from the center of the island. The hostel overlooks the sea, and within a 5-minute walk there is a village with a café, restaurant, grocery store, and a marina for boating.
