Well, rough experience we had. Booked at night, had no immediate notification that we must prepay (in mobile version of site at least). At 6am (sic) prepayment notification came on email, at 8am, reservation was cancelled. I don’t wake up at 8 on vacation I also didn’t check the email this day so when we came after the whole day driving the host told us that he wouldn’t let us in even if we prepaid because we arrived few minutes after 8pm (10-15 minutes) and because we had a child. After an hour of frustration and search (because everything on Skye is pre-booked months ahead and unexpected cancellation means you need to drive 100 miles somewhere to big island in night), we were lucky to find a nice place in Portree for same price with private bathroom and lots of conveniences around from good cafes (Birch) to car chargers. The place itself is amid nowhere, not really close to the shore, lots of bottles near the entrance… I well understand that people will book anyway given the scarcity of shelter supply on Skye in summer but be sure not to miss emails, not to have kids, arrive early and hope the host likes you.

It's noisy. The decoration is not great. You have to share the bathroom with the other 3 bedrooms. Everything is modest but at the price of a nice hotel. The aerial photo camouflages the real state of the facade

Would not recommend unless you’re already located near Skye.We had two nights booked and paid for to stay at the lighthouse cottage months in advance of our trip. Unfortunately we had vehicle issues on our way from Edinburgh, and messaged the host that we wouldn’t be able to make the check in cutoff (9pm) but would be there later in the night (12am). The host messaged back that we needed to find accommodation elsewhere, which we did. But this morning the host cancelled our entire booking and we will need to find another place to stay short notice. Rough experience after a tough travel day yesterday.

Angus is a very nice host, the Cottage itself is offering all you need and is well situated to explore the Isle of Skye.||Breakfast is served by Angus in the rooms as there is no community room. ||Only disadvantage in my opinion that you can not open the Windows in your room, but we have also not asked Angus for the key.

Loved staying at the Lighthouse Cottage. Great hospitality! Want breakfast while you stay? Communicate with Angus, and he will do his best.Pretty normal house rules, remember- if you lock out Angus... no breakfast for you lol.Very convenient to get to the rest of Skye!

Have been on a tour of Scotland this Easter, and after reading many good reviews about Lighthouse Cottage, we chose to spend the night here.We will never do that again.We were received by the owner, who behaved almost rudely, crossly and a little too cocky in a very rude way.The room was clean, but the mattress in the bed was hard as a board. Both the room and the bathroom were FILLED with trinkets, trinkets and far too many personal items.We will definitely go to Scotland again, where apart from the owner here, we only met nice and very welcoming Scots :-)

Skylarks Cittage is a cosy, quiet place to stay. A warm welcome from the owners Sarah & Simon with the extra touch of fresh flowers, fizz and scones gave it a personal touch. Central to many different places of interest abd would highly recommend.

Warm welcome, a host very involved with his guests and discreet. Everything is available and well thought out. The premises were clean and well maintained. Italian shower. Breakfast served in your room at the desired time, with a wide choice. Room with sea and shore view. We highly recommend.
