Great hotel enjoyed my stay they look after me in here over other guests they are the only hotel that have managed to accommodate me and have the flexibility of keeping customers that behave badly without prejudice ignored the bad reviews on here about it

Staff were lovely! Joe the cleaner was very friendly and helpful! We were very impressed by how clean the property was, it very accessible and easy to find. The only down side was the tv as it struggled to find signal. Overall we loved our stay and we would love to stay again!

Friendly but self catering.It's a pretty cheap place to stay could do with updating. Although the building is good you would need transport no buses only 1 pub and a shop with postoffice . Shop closed by 10pm . area is peaceful mostly millionaires live in the area .Michael the manager is a elderly person but very helpful .He is also the handy man so any problems with your room he will soon sort things out for you.Very likeable chap .

To cut a long story short, avoid at all costs.I made a large booking here for a few of my employees. My employees are not fussy and generally will stay anywhere as long as its clean and they don't share rooms.We really do not mind a dated hotel, in fact, a lot of the time they are more homely and nice for a longer term stay.This is not the case with the Amethyst Hotel.This hotel is absolutely filthy.They are also in complete denial about the state of their rooms. I quote "your expectation of a room for this price is too high" In fact I would not even stay in this hotel for free.One of our rooms had a crack that ran from the bathroom to the hallway, it was riddled with a dark mould, and it smelt absolutely awful. The lights in the hallway were non-operational, the room walls were stained, the carpets were also filthy like they had never been hoovered or cleaned since the hotel's inception.The worst part of all was the smell though. It had an odd musky smell which filled your nostrils as you entered and got caught in the back of your throat, you can tell there is a serious damp issue here so any older guest / guests with any possible lung issues should avoid this at all costs.They never offered us any alternative and I could not force my men to stay there, so I was forced to book additional last minute accommodation at a great expense and headache.I brought these issues up with the hotel staff Nil Jackson who proceeded to tell me we were all wrong and that there was "no smell" even when their own caretaker inspected the rooms with my employees together and agreed.I am not sure if Nil Jackson personally owns part of this hotel but she was so defensive over these rooms that I cannot imagine what her home looks like.Any other hotel in the world would have simply apologised and offered an alternative which I would have been more than happy with, but instead they choose to fight us over our comments and that it is our own standard which are the problem.I'd highly recommend actually reading the reviews and listening because even I thought "it couldnt be that bad"

I'm sure the 5 star reviews are fake. Booked a single room for a night over a bank holiday weekend because it was the only one I could get. It's a self-check-in hotel with no staff and it's very old-fashioned. Reminds me of the hotel from The Shining, just a lot smaller and somehow not as nice. The carpet in the room was stained and dirty and there was no mount for the shower head. It wouldn't have bothered me so much if I hadn't paid £60 for it. Avoid staying here if you can, it's just not worth it.

Like going back to the 80s, carpets were from the 80s, only 2 channels on TV, no head board, bathroom basic with an old slow shower, no breakfast or opshanal meals available and dirty, unable to use kettle due to dust and scum not been cleaned for a while

Very disappointed,say the room it's deluxe...tv not working, no signal for wi fi ,promises to come to check for the TV,nothing and to do the check in...nothing to indicate how to managed, call them and after if u need something, u can't call them anymore and most the chat truth the...email lol answer just when he feel....anyway, disappointed the only good things it's the bad,very comfortable, the room 11 very dirty and bees inside, u need to close the window after small a blanch so much....no worth the money

Going back in time is the only way to describe this hotel.No money spent on it in a long time,carpets have shrunk they've been down that long.Ideal place if you've just gotten out of prison.
