Do NOT stay here!! We have been coming to York regularly and wanted to try this place for its central location and themed rooms.Room Booked: SpectacularHowever here is what we discovered:1. The sound insulation in the room is so bad that you hear every SINGLE word and noise from both of the rooms next to us, making it hard to sleep or even relax. The sound from the windows at night is horrible as well, hearing very drunk or busker outside. Also the rooms are way smaller than advertised and feel like a fridge when walking in. At night the light in the bathroom mirror does not turn of fully shining through the glass door lowering sleep even further.2. The central location may be alright for going about the city, however the motel is surrounded by bars, pubs and buskers making the noise unbearable until late at night. Also due to its central location there is no parking and no way to get there by car most of the time.3. The wifi in the room is so bad that I am having to writerhis review standing on the side of my bed.4. There is NO accesability whatsoever. Heavy luggage, take the stairs, any sort of disability or Injury, tough luck take the stairs.5. The TV in our room was broken with a lime going through it6. Telling the staff any of this is met with a: We know but can't do anything. In conclusion: for 500+ pounds this is unacceptable. The only thing IMPOSIBLE about this place was getting any sleep or comfort. Will never come back!

Impossible Motel, lives up to it's name, Impossible to get a good night's sleep, also Toilet and Shower are only part divided in the room, just a screen to separate from the room so very little privacy. …

I stayed with my partner in room 23. Unfortunately, we were rudely awoken in the middle of the night by what can only be described as the sounds of an obscene hard core pornography shoot. The walls and/or ceiling are so poorly insulated for sound that it felt like we were on the actual set. We could hear every dirty word exchanged by the couple next door, and so we have to assume that once they were resting, they could hear every word we said too.Although the black and gold strip-club-chic nature of the decor alluded to a certain kind of clientele, we certainly expected the sound proofing to be better than a garden shed. This is not a "cheap and cheerful" hotel and so we expected much better. The only other complaint is that the "selection of complimentary breakfast pastries" was in fact a pain au chocolat, and a plain croissant, warmed in the microwave, with a choice of either butter or jam. This is a pretty poor show.Otherwise the bed was comfortable and the bathtub was lovely. When checking out we raised the issue of sound proofing with the receptionist, who made it clear that this is a common complaint, and suggested I raise it via email. Given that this complaint is common, it seems to me they should either explain the issue on the website, or actually fix it with some sound proofing insulation. The receptionist informed us that had we complained to the desk in the middle of the night, they'd have furnished us with a set of foam earplugs. As it happens I tried my custom moulded ACS plugs with -30db filters. Even these top of the range ear plugs couldn't block out the sounds of wet flesh upon wet flesh.Following an email complaint the manager has offered us £50 compo. I said I'd gladly accept this if they could guarantee a quiet room, but they've not replied again. If you're after a quality knocking shop where you can hear your fellow enthusiasts, this is the hotel for you. Otherwise I'd go elsewhere.

Awful experience with this hotel, booked using a virgin experience voucher to be told 3 days later they wouldn't honour the booking. Poor communication via email with lots of spelling and grammar mistakes led to a number of conversations. …
