Came across The Wee Waif when looking for accommodation for the Chiltern Ultramarathon. When I first arrived I enjoyed(sarcasm) having to walk through the plumes of smoke emitted by the locals who were out for a smoke from the bar (surely they can smoke away from the door like civilised people?).When I got into the room, it stank of body odour- I did have a cursory glance at the cleanliness, perhaps the room should have just been quarantined due to the stench. Needless to say I braved it and cracked a the window to air it out (didn’t do much). The hotel seems like it has seen better days- an electric heater instead of central air, marks on walls, frayed carpet, caulking on the bathroom looking tired and off- colour. There’s even no place to really put your clothes besides some hangers- a chest of drawers would be handy?.Second night I will admit that the room smelled somewhat better with the use of air freshener, although there’s a limit to masking a problem..There’s only three plugs also- and one of those is used by the TV, and the free ones are not near the bed- seems this place misses the trick that other hotels understand with bedside sockets for your phone charger. You get what you pay for here, although it’s not in the most prime location so honestly wouldn’t pay the requested rate if I was asked.

Had many a meal at the Wee Waif, but after our most recent visit on 11/08 Jamie looked after our table of 13 diners. As usual no problems with any of the food and drinks, great value as usual. But special thanks to Jamie, Job well done.
