I must say, this place was fantastic. I have stayed at the Savoy in London and this was a step up from that. The room was so luxurious, spotlessly clean and the beds looked very expensive. The reception staff were extremely attentive, and nothing was ever too much trouble. I don't need to be smiled at or neither do I engage in idle chit chat so their style of managing a guest suited me perfectly. The furniture was obviuosly expensive antique style baroque covered in gold leaf and the carpet was real Axminster. Not something the Savoy can lay claim to. The smell of the room was to die for, and I was so happy that as I left the hotel, the smell of the room seemed to linger on my clothes, that was special and kept the memory of being there all day long. We shared the room with many small guests, who were fairly quiet and only came out to see us when we were asleep so didn't really disturb us at all. All in all, a wonderful stay and if stay again one day, it won't be day too soon. However,I had taken 2 double dipped strawberry acid tabs so maybe my judgement could have been impaired. Try it out, you won't forget this hotel for the rest of your life.

The Windsor hotel is the only hotel that we managed to book for a decent price for the last summer weekend, when everything was booked half a year ago. We were very pleasantly surprised. …

I feel like in this hotel I was treated like a rat. It is awful, terrible, bad-looking, bad-smelling. It was tiny and didn't even have a room for meals! If I could I would give this hotel -5 stars. …

A one nighter with three of us on motorbikes before catching an early train to Calais the next morning. Didn’t need breakfast - just wanted a room with 3x beds, an en-suite and tea/coffee facilities.  …

We stayed at this hotel for one night en route to France. The positives: great location and friendly owner, sadly there are many more negatives. The room was dirty and extremely dated. …

Not giving a star as that is an insult, flea ridden, the adams family had more up dated furniture, please don’t go, we went for my grandson’s parade, didn’t stay as the place is a dropouts paradise, got followed in with an unsavoury character, the-owner was fast asleep when we left 15 minutes later ,he never even seen use because he was drunk. Please don’t go as booking dot com will allow this to happen had to give a star as it don’t let you post.

Although a little tired and dated the Windsor is owned by a lovely couple. The 23 of us who checked in were made to feel very welcome. The beds were clean and comfortable. Rooms at the front were very hot but more due to the weather than the rooms themselves. Thank you for your hospitalily.
