Very nice pub in the heart of the town. Good choice of beers with most of the Shepherd Neame choices on offer unlike other Shepherd pubs in the town. Relaxing area by the fire is preferred over the seats near the machine with all the flashing lights (far from relaxing) 😎.

Quality of food here is very good. Our visit here on a Saturday Market day was not as busy as usual so we were delighted to get a table for lunch. A couple of main dishes of tarragon chicken and hake were so very nicely presented and pretty tasty too.Attentive service plus of course some wonderful Shops beers to wash it all down.Lovely pub and worth a visit.

Nice big room, good location and parking nearby.|Just one problem. We had a decent breakfast, but when I asked for some butter to go with what is normally an £11 breakfast I was given a cheap looking spread which they probably use for …

The Sun is our local pub, and we couldn't be happier to visit regularly! The food is consistently good, and the courtyard garden is a fantastic spot to enjoy the summer weather.Located just steps away from the brewery where the beer is made. The service is quick, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. In the winter, the pub's great fire creates a cozy atmosphere. There's also a quiet side bar, a restaurant area, and boutique rooms for those looking to stay over.A great stop-off when in town – highly recommend!

A centrally located hotel in a wonderful old building. On arrival we were upgraded to a superior double which felt more like a suite than a room. The breakfast had a range of choices and the service was excellent. Would recommend having a drink or two in this pub full of character.

Second time visiting here to eat and was just as lovely, especially sitting with a view into the garden. They went out of their way to accommodate a gluten-free diet, and made me a haddock fish finger sandwich in GF batter with a GF bun - made my day as it’s usually impossible to order things like that on a pub menu. It’s rare to come across such a beautiful old pub which not only delivers on atmosphere, but also the food. We will be back!
