4 minutes ago on Google|Simply a charming, rustic and charactaful hotel in a unique position next to the Cathedral. My room had a Cathedral view but no shower. I chose this room and really enjoyed having a soak for a change. …

Great, quirky hotel.Great hotel right in the old-town Canterbury. It is located right next to the Cathedral gate, and above the visitor center. Everything in the old-town is walkable from here. It is a pedestrian zone so no cars (except the delivery trucks). They serve great breakfasts and there are three pubs within 100ft of the door. The beds were comfy. There are a lot of stairs and no lifts -- the building is 500+ years old and the hotel has been expanded into the neighboring buildings. Narrow, winding corridors with off level floors. We had to walk over the roof to get to our room, and had views of the cathedral on the walk.Staff was friendly and chatty. Will give you a map of the old-town and highlight their favourite pubs and kebab shops.Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is in the most amazing series of historic buildings so expect wonky doors and windows and plenty of stairs. The staff welcome was very good as was the breakfast. …

We started out our Southern England Coastal Tour with our group by staying at Canterbury Gate. My initial impression was not a fantastic one, but that quickly changed when interacting with the personnel of the hotel. …

This hotel is completely unique. It is an ancient building with stairs, uneven floors in places and rooms above the shops along the Burgate directly next door to the Cathedral entrance. …

We had the loveliest stay here a couple of weeks ago when we came to visit our wedding photographer! Huge thank you to all the staff and Monica in particular who took wonderful care of us. She was so thoughtful, attentive and welcoming. She really made it such a special stay and went above and beyond in every way.The rooms here are lovely, so charming and very comfortable. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and served in a lovely little room with a view of the street. We couldn’t have asked for a lovelier base in Canterbury. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay in this authentic hotel from the Middle-ages. Despite being so old , it was very comfortable and clean and could not have been closer to the Cathedral if it had tried. Lovely breakfast every morning. …

Despite the three of us having mobility issues, and one of us using a walking aid, we managed the steps in this hotel well thanks to very helpful and attentive staff, and lots of well placed handrails. …

Almost a 600yrs old building soIf you like modern set up not for you ( that’s me but the place grew on me for our 3 night stay )Floors doors creaked but full of character and they have made the most of the space .we booked a room with a personal shower ( excellent )and wash room rather than shared .Lots of stairs to tackle no lift and glad we did not have rain as had to go through an outdoor are to get to our room called Nightingale .70 s type furnishing . Comfy standard 4 poster bed and don’t expect the room to be spacious but good enough .note no fridge or safe . Very clean carpets could do with an upgrade but that’s meThe good things are;Excellent friendly and helpful staff .ample bottled water endless tea coffee available in rooms ,fan provided as weather was hot .continental breakfast was perfect for us .location you step out and a few bars lots of Resteraunt's and the cathedral entrance literally 2 doors away . Everything is easily accessibleWas perfect for our purpose to explore Canterbury .Below views from our window and breakfast area too . Small garden for smokers and to enjoy teas / coffee
