We didn't get the 'pleasure' of staying and judging by a few of the reviews, lucky we didn't! …

We had a lovely overnight stay at The Castle Hotel as a family of four on our way to France for the Olympics . The hosts are very friendly and were really helpful. Breakfast was lovely and it's really well placed for access to the channel tunnel.Would heartily recommend

We called in for some lunch after a walk from. Despite an amazing Sunday roast in 2023 the experience this time was very very different. The food was very disappointing, no effort at presentation. The manager did offer to put things right but we wanted to go. The pricing for sandwiches is strange. £7 for a sandwich but you have to choose fillings for extra? So £7 for the bread and butter? and then extra for ham, cheese etc. so it can end up being over £10 and more. I ordered a paté dish which sounded good but didn't look appetising. Eating out is so expensive now we really want value for money with places that have a passion for food and pride in service. We were 4 people ordering food after 3 other people but the barman was negative saying it might be a while as they had an order already. He said I won't take your money yet in case we don't have what you ordered? All really strange. Hopefully things will go back to being as good as 2023 but I don't think we will go back 😔

I have never met such rude, horrible people in my life! The owner (lady) refused to let me and my friend stay, due to an error I made on the registration forms, stating 3 people were staying when only 2 were. …

Don't go there, it's in dia need of referb, ceiling falling down, shappy loose carpets in halls, proprietors drunk on the job. Over priced snacks, paid £8.00 pluss for 3 small slices of halumi cheese, no dressing, coffee in room has to have been chicory, pillows on bed had no plump in them, breakfast drinks brought over by the male proprietor with very shaking hands from the night beforeAll I can say positive, a comfortable bed . Never would I go there again.

We were staying close by in the Castle Cottage (not associated) and this was the local. 100% dog friendly and they are allowed anywhere in the pub. There was a large garden area out the front but we sat inside because of the weather. …
