We stayed here for the one night recently so unfortunately didn’t have much time to enjoy it properly but the bedroom was nice and spacious with 2 lounging chairs with a table in the window overlooking the downs. …

I've been lucky enough to stay in hotels all over the world, and I've never had such a lovely welcome as the one I received at number 38. The production office I was working for sent a message that we wouldn't be arriving until well past our arranged time due to a delayed flight. They sent a kind note with a code for the front door and instructions from my assistant and me on how to find our rooms. I stepped into the room, and the lighting was on, low and ambient, with the beautiful Roberts radio playing classical music, and the doors opened to a marvellous claw-footed bath. Everything looked so welcoming that I didn't unpack my case immediately; I just got undressed, put some beautiful bubble bath left on a table in the bathroom into the tub and had a very long soak with a nice glass of tonic from the minibar. I ate the complimentary cookies and then settled under the beautiful duvet into a fantastic bed, having filled out my form to receive a first-class breakfast in stunning surroundings the following morning. This is the most delightful place to stay, a little piece of heaven.
