Just had a fantastic one-night stay at this hotel. I booked a deluxe four-poster room which was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. From arrival to departure, the staff were all very helpful and friendly. …

Wells seemed the best place to base ourselves for a two night visit to the Mendips. The Swan next to the Abbey and Bishop's Palace was the ideal spot - right in the heart of all that this small cathedral city has to offer. …

We recently held our wedding reception at the Swan. The hotel is stunning, the view of the cathedral is beautiful. The cathedral suite is the most jaw dropping bedroom. …

We have just had a fantastic overnight stay in this beautiful hotel, we arrived slightly early and the lady on the reception was polite and friendly and luckily our room was ready. We dined in the hotel’s restaurant and the food and the staff were great! I would highly suggest that you stay here.

Narrowly missing the 1 star, terrible room, "deluxe four post bedroom" £139 staff good but VERY understaffed protracting the check in, we had to leave and come back!Management obviously don't care a few hundred pounds could sort the room!we stayed 26/10/24 for a family "do" and meal at the hotel. Staff tried very hard, even receptionist only been there a couple weeks excellent but overall would try the Penguin next time.Amazing location - with a carpark, but the basics at any hotel is to make the rooms excellent. this Hotel just relies on the location. just not good enough, sorry to say.

On checking in I asked was room 61 quiet? Yes I was assured. It overlooked the high street. Traffic and pedestrian noise was the first thing you heard when you entered the room. …

I return to this area frequently as my children are at a nearby boarding school and after a time of trying various hotels, The Swan is now my only choice. Excellent service from everyone, great dinner and breakfast menu and v convenient for all that Wells has to see and do. The manager is friendly and very welcoming to everyone. Last visit, I stayed in one of the recently refurbished suites and it was a wonderful experience. Very luxurious! Over the winter months, I really enjoyed spending the evening sitting by the log fire with a glass of red wine. Highly recommend this hotel!

We arrived early and greeted by a lovely lady called Diane. Our room not ready so went walk round the lovely city had lunch and made our way back to hotel.Olivia greeted us and what a joy she was. Very informative escorted us to our room and gave us all relevant information we needed and then went back and booked breakfast slot for us . All in all great customer services and sense of humour so thank you Olivia. We paid £139 for a room that was disappointing. It had been decorated but the furniture had cracks in gla top, marks from cups on bedside table just generally a mishmash of old furniture. The bathroom spacious but had to step into bath to use shower not great for anyone with mobility issues. and bed comfortable.I can only presume the price paid was for the location and the lovely staff.

The Swan Hotel oozes old world charm from the cobbled driveway around the old buildings covered in beautiful vines to the wonderfully quaint rooms with window seats and quirky layouts. The restaurant and bar areas are cosy and beautifully decorated. The staff are amazing, can't do enough for you.

This hotel is in a great position close to the cathedral but unfortunately the parking had very tricky access. …
