Bacon, Onion, and Cheese-Stuffed Burger Delights
Ingredients List
-
3 pounds ground beef
-
3 tablespoons barbecue sauce
-
½ teaspoon garlic powder
-
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
-
¼ teaspoon salt
-
½ pound bacon, cut into 1/4 inch pieces
-
1 medium onion, finely chopped
-
¾ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
-
6 hamburger buns, split
Cooking Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, barbecue sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Use your hands to mix everything well. Shape the mixture into 12 thin patties, each about 1/4 pound. Lay them on a cookie sheet, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate.
-
In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium-high heat, turning occasionally until evenly browned, about 5 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon and drain it on paper towels. Lower the heat to medium and sauté the onions in the remaining bacon drippings until softened and slightly browned. Transfer the bacon and onions to a small bowl and mix them together.
-
Preheat your grill to medium heat and lightly oil the grate.
-
Take the beef patties out of the refrigerator. For each of 6 patties, add 1-1/2 tablespoons of the bacon and onion mixture, then sprinkle with shredded cheese. Place another patty on top and press the edges together to seal the stuffed burgers.
-
Grill the burgers for about 4 to 5 minutes per side, or until the beef is fully cooked with no pink in the center. The internal temperature should reach at least 160°F (70°C). Serve the burgers on buns with your favorite toppings and condiments.
