BBQ Chicken-Stuffed Calzones
Ingredients Needed
-
4 slices bacon
-
3 cups shredded, cooked chicken breast meat
-
½ small onion, chopped
-
⅔ cup barbeque sauce
-
1 (10 ounce) can refrigerated pizza crust dough
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
-
Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned. Remove from heat and drain on paper towels; crumble the bacon.
-
In the same skillet, add shredded chicken and onion to the bacon grease. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is tender. Stir in 1/3 cup of barbecue sauce, then remove from heat and mix in the crumbled bacon.
-
Roll the pizza dough onto a greased baking sheet. Stretch it out evenly and then cut it in half. Divide the chicken mixture between the two pieces of dough, spreading it out to within 1/2 inch of the edges.
-
Drizzle the remaining barbecue sauce over the filling. Sprinkle with cheese and cilantro. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges with a fork to seal.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool for a few minutes, then cut each calzone in half to serve 4. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side if desired.
