2 tablespoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons water

2 cups low-fat milk

1 tablespoon margarine

8 slices American cheese, cut into pieces

1 (15 ounce) can chili without beans (such as Hormel®)
Instructions

Cook the French fries according to the package instructions.

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until the cornstarch is dissolved. Set aside. In a saucepan, bring milk and margarine to a boil while stirring constantly. Lower the heat and whisk in the cornstarch mixture. Simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth. Add the cheese and stir until fully melted and combined with the sauce.
