Ingredients List
-
12 whole wheat lasagna noodles
-
1 pound lean ground beef
-
2 cloves garlic, chopped
-
1 teaspoon dried oregano, or to taste
-
½ teaspoon garlic powder
-
salt and ground black pepper to taste
-
1 (16 ounce) package cottage cheese
-
½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
-
2 eggs
-
4 ½ cups tomato-basil pasta sauce
-
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Cooking Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook for about 10 minutes or until they are al dente. Drain the noodles once cooked.
In the meantime, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, garlic, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook and stir the mixture until the beef is crumbly and fully browned, which should take around 10 minutes.
In a large bowl, mix together the cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, and eggs until completely combined.
Arrange 4 lasagna noodles side by side on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Layer with tomato-basil sauce, followed by the ground beef mixture and the cottage cheese mixture. Repeat these layers two more times, finishing with a layer of sauce. Top the lasagna with shredded mozzarella cheese. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
Bake the lasagna in the preheated oven until the sauce is bubbling and the cheese is melted, approximately 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese has started to brown. Let the lasagna rest for at least 10 minutes before serving.
