Delicious Creamy Chicken Pasta

1 (8 ounce) package whole wheat penne pasta

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 tablespoons minced garlic

1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cubed

1 (8 ounce) package sliced fresh mushrooms

1 (10.5 ounce) can fat-free cream of mushroom soup

½ cup water, or as needed

1 pinch garlic salt, or to taste

1 pinch red pepper flakes, or to taste
Cooking Instructions

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, then add the penne pasta. Cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, for about 11 minutes, until the pasta is al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.

Heat olive oil and garlic in a skillet over high heat until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add the chicken and mushrooms, stirring to coat with the oil and garlic. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink and juices run clear, about 6 to 8 minutes. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and slowly add 1/2 cup of water, a tablespoon at a time, until the sauce is smooth and creamy.

Lower the heat to medium-low and gently toss the cooked pasta into the chicken and sauce mixture until well-coated. Season with garlic salt and red pepper to taste. Remove from heat and serve immediately.
