Garlic and Lemon Braised Flank Steak
Ingredients List
-
½ cup all-purpose flour
-
½ teaspoon garlic powder
-
salt and pepper to taste
-
1 (1 1/2 pound) beef flank steak
-
1 tablespoon cooking oil
-
1 (13.75 ounce) can chicken broth
-
2 teaspoons lemon juice
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
3 whole cloves
Instructions
-
In a shallow dish, combine flour and garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper. Dredge the steak in the flour mixture, coating both sides evenly. Discard any leftover flour mix.
-
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and sear until browned, about 5 minutes per side. Pour in chicken broth, lemon juice, garlic, and cloves. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer on low heat. Cover and cook until the steak is tender, about 1.5 hours.
-
To serve, remove the steak from the skillet and slice thinly against the grain. Arrange on plates and spoon the sauce over the steak.
