Homemade Granola

Ingredients Needed
-
7 cups quick-cooking oats
-
1 cup wheat germ
-
1 cup wheat bran
-
½ cup brown sugar
-
½ cup vegetable oil
-
½ cup honey
-
½ cup water
-
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
-
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (Optional)
-
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg (Optional)
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
1 cup chopped dates
-
1 cup chopped pecans
-
1 cup flaked coconut (Optional)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 275°F (135°C).
-
In a large bowl, combine oats, wheat germ, and wheat bran.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together brown sugar, vegetable oil, honey, and water until smooth. Stir in vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Pour the mixture over the oat blend and stir until all the oats are coated. Spread the mixture evenly into a large, shallow baking dish.

Bake in the preheated oven, stirring every 15 minutes, for about 45 minutes or until golden brown. Add dates, pecans, and coconut to the baking dish, stirring to combine. Continue baking for another 15 minutes. Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool to room temperature.
