Krista's Baked Honey Garlic Wings

Ingredients

24 chicken wings, split and tips discarded

3 1/4 cups water, divided

¾ cup packed brown sugar

¼ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce

5 tablespoons honey

5 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root

3 tablespoons cornstarch
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Arrange the chicken wings in a single layer on a baking sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes, or until they are crispy. Once done, transfer the wings to a baking dish and set aside.

In a medium saucepan, combine 2 1/2 cups water, brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil. In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 3/4 cup of water and cornstarch until smooth, then add to the saucepan. Stir and cook until the sauce thickens.

Pour the sauce over the wings to coat them thoroughly. Return the wings to the oven and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbling and the chicken is cooked through (an instant-read thermometer should read 165°F or 74°C, and the juices should run clear).
Chef's Tip
This recipe works equally well with thighs, breasts, or skinless boneless chicken. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
